Sales Development Manager Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales development manager in Tennessee?
Most Tennessee employers expect candidates to have progressed from a sales development representative role into a team lead or manager position, typically after demonstrating consistent pipeline results. No state-issued license is required for this role in Tennessee. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field is the standard educational baseline, and many Nashville-area technology and healthcare software companies place additional weight on CRM certifications and demonstrated coaching experience.
How much do sales development managers make in Tennessee?
Sales development managers in Tennessee earn a median of about $128,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,220 for the lowest 10% to over $231,830 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales development managers in Tennessee?
Employers hiring sales development managers in Tennessee right now include Shamrock Trading Corporation, Camping World, and Denver Mattress, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of healthcare technology, logistics, and financial services companies means hiring is distributed across both large enterprise organizations and fast-growing regional firms.
Which Tennessee cities have the most sales development manager jobs?
Nashville, Franklin, and Chattanooga lead Tennessee for sales development manager openings. Nashville drives the largest share of demand thanks to its dense concentration of healthcare IT, SaaS, and fintech employers, while Memphis benefits from major logistics and distribution headquarters, and Knoxville reflects growing demand tied to its expanding technology and manufacturing sectors.
Are there remote sales development manager jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and they are relatively common for this role. About 63% of sales development manager openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the strategic and coaching responsibilities of the role translate to distributed work. Fully remote arrangements are most typical for roles focused on managing inside sales pipelines rather than field-based or in-person enterprise accounts.
How can I get hired as a sales development manager in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to start as a sales development representative at a Tennessee-based technology or healthcare company, then move into a team lead role before pursuing manager titles. Large Nashville employers in healthcare IT and SaaS regularly hire associate SDRs and run structured onboarding programs for candidates without prior sales experience. Building proficiency in Salesforce and completing a recognized sales methodology course strengthens any early-career application considerably.
