Business Development Representative Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development representative in Tennessee?
Tennessee does not require a state-issued license to work as a business development representative. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field. Building experience through internships, inside sales roles, or customer success positions at Tennessee-based companies is the most common path. Completing a recognized sales development certification or training program also strengthens candidacy for competitive openings at larger Nashville and Memphis employers.
How much do business development representatives make in Tennessee?
Business development representatives in Tennessee earn a median of about $60,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,900 for the lowest 10% to over $115,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development representatives in Tennessee?
Employers hiring business development representatives in Tennessee right now include Victory Automotive, P2C, and ICBD, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of healthcare technology companies in Nashville and logistics firms in Memphis creates consistent demand for business development representatives with industry-specific knowledge.
Which Tennessee cities have the most business development representative jobs?
Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga have the most business development representative openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its dense cluster of healthcare technology, SaaS, and financial services firms, while Memphis benefits from large logistics and supply chain employers, and Knoxville draws demand from its growing technology and manufacturing sectors.
Are there remote business development representative jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than many fields, because business development representative work centers on phone and digital outreach rather than on-site tasks. About 29% of business development representative openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to distributed work. Roles focused on early-stage prospecting and email outreach tend to be the most remote-friendly within this category.
How can I get hired as a business development representative in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to sales development representative or customer success associate roles at Tennessee-based technology and healthcare companies, which regularly hire candidates without direct business development experience. Large Nashville employers in healthcare technology and SaaS often run structured onboarding programs for junior sales hires. Moving from a customer service, retail banking, or account management role is a common lateral step. Earning a foundational sales certification or building a portfolio of outreach work strengthens applications significantly.
Where can I find and apply to business development representative jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to business development representative jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings across Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, and other markets.
