Business Development Representative Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development representative in North Carolina?
No state-issued license or registration is required to work as a business development representative in North Carolina. Most employers in the state look for a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications, along with demonstrated experience in outbound prospecting or inside sales. Completing a recognized sales development program, building CRM proficiency, and targeting employers in Charlotte's fintech corridor or the Research Triangle's technology sector are the most practical steps into the role.
How much do business development representatives make in North Carolina?
Business development representatives in North Carolina earn a median of about $62,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,410 for the lowest 10% to over $145,630 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development representatives in North Carolina?
Employers hiring business development representatives in North Carolina right now include Green Ford, SV Academy, and SolarWinds, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's concentration of technology companies in the Research Triangle and major financial institutions in Charlotte means the pipeline of openings is consistently replenished throughout the year.
Which North Carolina cities have the most business development representative jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greensboro have the most business development representative openings in North Carolina. Charlotte drives volume through its large financial services and fintech employer base, while Raleigh and Durham benefit from the Research Triangle's dense cluster of software, biotech, and enterprise technology companies that rely heavily on outbound sales teams to grow revenue.
Are there remote business development representative jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 52% of business development representative openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well-suited phone and email-based prospecting is to distributed work. The portions of the role most commonly offered remotely are outbound calling, email sequencing, and CRM management, while in-person expectations are most common for roles that include on-site team selling or local territory coverage.
How can I get hired as a business development representative in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly for sales development representative or inside sales associate roles at North Carolina technology companies in the Research Triangle or financial services firms in Charlotte, which regularly bring on candidates without prior sales experience. Companies like Red Hat and SAS Institute have structured early-career programs that train new hires in outbound methodology. Earning a HubSpot Sales Software certification or completing a sales bootcamp gives candidates a measurable edge, and moving laterally from customer success or account management roles is another well-worn route in.
Where can I find and apply to business development representative jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to business development representative jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to see roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
