Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, personable, and results-driven Service-to-Sales Representative to join our busy Honda dealership. This position is responsible for identifying sales opportunities among customers visiting our Service Department and creating a seamless transition from service to vehicle sales.
The ideal candidate understands that a service visit is often the perfect opportunity to help customers explore their vehicle ownership options. You will build relationships with service customers, identify potential trade-in and upgrade opportunities, and introduce customers to the Sales Department when the timing is right.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable in a fast-paced dealership environment, and is motivated by performance and earning potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers waiting for or dropping off their vehicles in the Service Department.
- Build genuine relationships and create a positive, professional customer experience.
- Identify customers who may be good candidates for a new or pre-owned vehicle.
- Ask effective questions to understand customers' current vehicle, needs, payment, mileage, and future plans.
- Identify potential trade-in and upgrade opportunities.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors to identify customers whose vehicles may be approaching major repair needs or replacement cycles.
- Introduce qualified customers to the Sales Team and facilitate a smooth handoff.
- Conduct vehicle appraisals and assist customers in understanding their vehicle's potential trade value.
- Schedule sales appointments and follow up with customers who express interest.
- Maintain accurate customer information and follow-up activity in the dealership CRM.
- Work closely with Sales, Service, and Management to maximize dealership opportunities.
- Follow up with previous service customers regarding vehicle upgrades, lease maturity, trade opportunities, and new Honda products.
- Stay current on Honda models, features, technology, incentives, and available inventory.
- Meet or exceed established appointment, lead, and sales-performance goals.
- Maintain professionalism and a customer-first attitude at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Previous automotive, dealership, sales, service, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable approaching customers and starting conversations.
- Ability to recognize buying signals and create sales opportunities without being overly aggressive.
- Highly motivated, energetic, and self-directed.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, computers, phones, and dealership technology.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
What Makes This Position Different
This is not a traditional "wait for ups" sales position. You will have access to a steady stream of customers already visiting our dealership and will be responsible for turning those relationships into legitimate sales opportunities.
Successful Service-to-Sales Representatives are excellent communicators who understand that the goal is not to pressure a customer into buying a vehicle. The goal is to recognize the opportunity, provide value, and help the customer determine whether upgrading or replacing their vehicle makes sense.

Sales Representative Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales representative in New Jersey?
Most sales representative roles in New Jersey require a bachelor's degree and do not require a state-issued license, with the exception of insurance sales, which requires passing the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance licensing exam for the relevant line of authority. Pharmaceutical and medical device sales often expect prior B2B experience or a science-related degree. Building a strong record in inside sales or retail and earning industry certifications like the Certified Professional Sales Person credential can accelerate hiring.
Which companies hire sales representatives in New Jersey?
Employers hiring sales representatives in New Jersey right now include Power Home Remodeling, ADP, and Alliance Mobile, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and B2B technology companies makes it one of the more diverse hiring environments for sales professionals on the East Coast.
Which New Jersey cities have the most sales representative jobs?
New Jersey, Newark, and Mount Laurel have the most sales representative openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City generate volume through financial services, insurance, and large corporate offices, while Princeton and the surrounding Mercer County corridor attract pharmaceutical and life sciences sales roles tied to the region's dense concentration of biotech and healthcare company campuses.
Are there remote sales representative jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many fields, particularly for inside sales, software, and financial products roles. About 18% of sales representative openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the broad adoption of virtual selling across B2B industries. Field and territory-based roles, especially in medical devices and specialty pharma, continue to require in-person client and clinical visits.
How can I get hired as a sales representative in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for inside sales associate or sales development representative roles, which New Jersey employers in insurance, fintech, and SaaS regularly staff with candidates new to the field. Companies like Prudential Financial and large pharma contractors in the Princeton corridor run rotational or associate sales programs designed for recent graduates. Earning the New Jersey property and casualty insurance license before applying gives candidates in the insurance sector a concrete edge over unlicensed competition.
