Service Operations Manager Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service operations manager in Vermont?
Most service operations manager roles in Vermont require a bachelor's degree in business, operations, or a related field, combined with several years of progressively responsible experience in a service or operations environment. Vermont does not issue a state-specific license for this role, so hiring decisions center on demonstrated leadership experience, familiarity with process improvement frameworks like Lean or Six Sigma, and sector knowledge in Vermont's dominant industries including healthcare, financial services, and advanced manufacturing.
How much do service operations managers make in Vermont?
Service operations managers in Vermont earn a median of about $98,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,500 for the lowest 10% to over $218,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire service operations managers in Vermont?
Vermont service operations manager roles are posted by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Marsh McLennan, and Beta Technologies and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's anchor employers in healthcare, insurance, and precision manufacturing tend to post the most consistent openings throughout the year.
Which Vermont cities have the most service operations manager jobs?
Vermont, Burlington, and Colchester account for the largest share of service operations manager openings in Vermont. Burlington drives the most activity as the state's largest city and home to UVM Medical Center and a growing technology and financial services sector, while Montpelier and Rutland see steady hiring through state government agencies, regional healthcare providers, and manufacturing operations anchored in those areas.
Are there remote service operations manager jobs in Vermont?
Yes, but they're less common than fully on-site positions because the role typically involves direct oversight of teams, facilities, or service workflows. About 17% of service operations manager openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so options do exist. The functions most likely to go remote or hybrid are reporting, vendor coordination, and performance analytics, while team supervision and facilities-facing responsibilities tend to require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a service operations manager in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an operations coordinator or team lead role first, then building toward manager-level responsibilities. Vermont employers like UVM Health Network and National Life Group regularly hire operations associates and service coordinators who can grow into management. Completing a Lean or Six Sigma certification, even at the yellow belt level, signals process improvement aptitude that Vermont employers value. Adjacent roles in customer service supervision, administrative coordination, or facilities coordination are common lateral moves that open the door.
