Technical Sales Engineer Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical sales engineer in Missouri?
Most Missouri employers require a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline as the foundation for this role. Missouri does not issue a state license specifically for technical sales engineers, so credentials come from the field itself: professional engineering licensure from the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors and Professional Geologists strengthens candidates in industrial sectors, while vendor certifications in automation, cloud platforms, or enterprise software are highly valued across the state's manufacturing and technology employers.
How much do technical sales engineers make in Missouri?
Technical sales engineers in Missouri earn a median of about $90,960 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,380 for the lowest 10% to over $135,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical sales engineers in Missouri?
Employers hiring technical sales engineers in Missouri right now include Boeing, Esri, and Cyera, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's concentration of industrial manufacturers, agricultural technology firms, and enterprise software companies means technical sales engineering roles appear across a wide range of established employers throughout the state.
Which Missouri cities have the most technical sales engineer jobs?
St. Louis, Berkeley, and Kansas City account for the most technical sales engineer openings in Missouri. St. Louis leads because of its dense cluster of industrial manufacturers and enterprise technology firms, Kansas City follows as a hub for agricultural equipment, logistics technology, and healthcare IT, and Springfield draws openings from regional manufacturing and distribution companies that rely on field-based technical sales teams.
Are there remote technical sales engineer jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based roles because technical sales engineers frequently conduct on-site product demonstrations, customer training sessions, and pre-sales evaluations that require a physical presence. About 29% of technical sales engineer openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote portion most often covering inside technical sales or pre-sales solution architect functions rather than field-facing territory roles.
How can I get hired as a technical sales engineer in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a technical role, such as field service technician, applications engineer, or product support specialist, into a technical sales engineering position at the same employer. Missouri's large industrial manufacturers and enterprise software firms, including those based in the St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas, regularly hire associate sales engineers or technical sales development representatives from their own engineering or support teams. Completing a vendor certification in automation, networking, or cloud infrastructure and building a portfolio of solution scoping work significantly strengthens a candidate who lacks direct sales experience.
Where can I find and apply to technical sales engineer jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to technical sales engineer jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings across industries and experience levels. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
