Which education employers in Georgia sponsor Green Cards?
Georgia's largest education institutions are the most active Green Card sponsors. Georgia Tech and Emory University regularly sponsor faculty and research staff through the EB-1 and EB-2 categories. Georgia State University, the University of Georgia in Athens, and large public school districts including Gwinnett County Public Schools and Atlanta Public Schools have also supported permanent residency for specialized educators and administrators.
Which cities in Georgia have the most education Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the largest share of education Green Card sponsorship activity in Georgia, driven by its concentration of research universities, private colleges, and major school districts. Athens is a secondary hub given the University of Georgia's presence. Savannah, Augusta, and Columbus each have regional universities and growing school systems that periodically sponsor permanent residency for hard-to-fill specialist roles.
What types of education roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Georgia?
Tenure-track and research faculty positions at Georgia's universities are the most commonly sponsored roles, typically filed under the EB-1B outstanding researcher category or EB-2 with a PERM labor certification. Specialized K-12 teachers in subjects like special education, STEM, and bilingual instruction also attract sponsorship. Curriculum directors, instructional technologists, and senior school administrators may qualify depending on the employer's needs.
How do I find education Green Card sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored roles, including education Green Card jobs in Georgia. You can filter directly by state, visa type, and industry to find positions where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings, since Green Card sponsorship availability is surfaced upfront rather than buried in job descriptions.
Are there any Georgia-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in education?
Georgia's public universities operate under the Board of Regents and must comply with state hiring regulations alongside federal immigration requirements, which can affect sponsorship timelines. The PERM labor certification process requires employers to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available, a step that can be lengthier in competitive metro Atlanta markets. Private institutions like Emory have more flexibility in structuring sponsorship offers.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card education jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
