Which automotive companies in Indiana sponsor H-1B visas?
Indiana's largest automotive H-1B visa sponsors include Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana in Greensburg, and several Tier 1 suppliers such as BorgWarner and Stellantis-affiliated operations. Indianapolis-area engineering firms and parts manufacturers also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data as H-1B sponsors for technical and engineering roles.
Which cities in Indiana have the most automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Lafayette and Greensburg lead Indiana for automotive H-1B activity, driven by their major vehicle assembly plants. Indianapolis is the largest overall hiring market and attracts automotive engineering, software, and supplier roles. Columbus and Fort Wayne also have notable concentrations of automotive parts manufacturers and supplier firms that have sponsored H-1B workers in engineering and manufacturing functions.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Indiana?
Roles that consistently qualify are those requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. In Indiana's automotive sector, this includes vehicle systems engineers, manufacturing process engineers, quality engineers, embedded software developers for vehicle electronics, materials scientists, and supply chain analysts with specialized engineering backgrounds. General production or assembly positions typically do not meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
How do I find automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to browse automotive H-1B roles in Indiana without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can filter by state and visa category to surface active listings from Indiana's assembly plants, Tier 1 suppliers, and engineering firms. Checking Department of Labor LCA disclosure data alongside Migrate Mate helps confirm which employers have recent H-1B filing history in the automotive sector.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the automotive industry?
Indiana's automotive workforce is heavily concentrated around a small number of large plants, so H-1B sponsorship activity tends to be tied closely to production cycles and capital investment at those facilities. Suppliers and contractors supporting OEM plants sometimes sponsor H-1B workers through the OEM's extended hiring network. Indiana does not impose state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal H-1B rules, but prevailing wage determinations for automotive roles reflect regional wage data specific to each metro area within the state.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B automotive jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
