Which distribution and wholesale companies sponsor H-1B visas in Iowa?
Iowa-based employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship activity in distribution and wholesale include Hy-Vee's supply chain and procurement divisions, national third-party logistics providers operating distribution centers near Des Moines and Davenport, and agricultural wholesale companies tied to Iowa's food and grain industries. Multinational manufacturers with Iowa distribution arms, such as those in the Cedar Rapids industrial corridor, also appear in DOL Labor Condition Application records as repeat H-1B sponsors.
Which cities in Iowa have the most distribution and wholesale H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines leads Iowa for distribution and wholesale H-1B activity, driven by its position as the state's main logistics hub and home to regional headquarters of several large wholesale operators. Cedar Rapids follows, supported by food processing and agricultural distribution employers. The Quad Cities metro, straddling Iowa and Illinois along Interstate 80, concentrates heavy freight and wholesale trade roles that regularly appear in H-1B filings.
What types of distribution and wholesale roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Iowa?
H-1B sponsorship in Iowa's distribution and wholesale sector most commonly covers specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. These include supply chain analysts, logistics engineers, procurement specialists, inventory management systems analysts, and operations managers with quantitative or business degree requirements. General warehouse, forklift, and non-degree trade roles do not qualify for H-1B classification under USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I find distribution and wholesale H-1B sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters distribution and wholesale jobs in Iowa specifically by H-1B sponsorship history, pulling from DOL Labor Condition Application data so you can see which employers have actually filed for these roles rather than guessing from job postings. Search by Iowa location and the distribution or wholesale industry tag to surface verified sponsoring employers. Reviewing LCA filing patterns by employer and job title helps you prioritize applications to companies with a track record of sponsoring similar positions.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in distribution and wholesale?
Iowa's distribution sector is heavily tied to agricultural supply chains, meaning many wholesale employers operate on seasonal procurement cycles that can influence hiring timelines relative to the H-1B cap registration period each spring. Employers filing for roles in Iowa's food distribution and grain wholesale industries must still meet DOL prevailing wage requirements, which you can verify using the OFLC Wage Search tool for the relevant Standard Occupational Classification code and Iowa wage area.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B distribution & wholesale jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
