Which medical devices companies sponsor E-3 visas in Minnesota?
Minnesota is home to several of the world's largest medical devices employers with established E-3 sponsorship histories. Medtronic, headquartered in Fridley, is among the most active sponsors nationally. Boston Scientific has a significant Minnesota presence, as does Abbott through its cardiovascular division. Smaller contract manufacturers and device startups in the Twin Cities metro also file Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles, particularly in engineering and regulatory functions.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro accounts for the majority of medical devices E-3 roles in Minnesota, with concentrations in Fridley, Arden Hills, Maple Grove, and Plymouth along the I-494/I-694 corridor. Rochester has a smaller but growing devices presence tied to Mayo Clinic's research and commercialization activities. Most international hiring for specialty occupation roles is concentrated in the Twin Cities suburbs where the largest device manufacturers operate their headquarters and R&D campuses.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship applies to specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In the medical devices sector, positions commonly meeting this standard include quality engineer, regulatory affairs specialist, biomedical engineer, R&D engineer, clinical applications specialist, manufacturing engineer, and software engineer working on embedded or device software. Roles requiring a general degree without a direct field connection may face greater scrutiny during the Labor Condition Application and consular review process.
How do I find medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for E-3 sponsorship roles in Minnesota's medical devices sector, drawing on DOL Labor Condition Application filing data to surface employers with verified sponsorship history. Searching by industry and state narrows results to companies actively hiring for E-3 eligible positions rather than general job postings. You can also review individual employer LCA filing histories on Migrate Mate to assess how frequently a company sponsors E-3 roles before applying.
Are there any Minnesota-specific or industry-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in medical devices?
Minnesota's medical devices sector is heavily regulated at the federal level through the FDA, which means many specialty occupation roles involve regulatory compliance, quality systems, or clinical documentation work that aligns well with E-3 specialty occupation requirements. Employers in this industry typically have established immigration processes and HR teams familiar with LCA filings. Australian applicants with degrees in biomedical engineering, life sciences, or regulatory affairs from accredited institutions are generally well-positioned for roles at Minnesota's major device manufacturers.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 medical devices jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
