About the Company
Industrious is the largest premium flexible workspace company in the world, operating over 250 locations across 10 countries as part of the CBRE portfolio. We design workplaces where teams feel welcomed, supported, and able to do their best work. The same principle guides how we work together as a company.
Great days also start when everyone can be their authentic self at work. Diversity of backgrounds, thoughts, and ideas is critical to our success in delivering great workplace experiences, both for our members and for each other. Industrious is committed to creating an inclusive, respectful environment that embraces your individuality and quirkiness. You are valued for who YOU are. We celebrate our people as individuals who can accomplish great things when we work together as one team.
About The Role
As a newly public-backed company, our financial operations are evolving rapidly, and we need a dedicated expert to bridge the gap between our People, IT, and Finance teams. Reporting to our Senior Accounting Manager, you will own our global payroll accounting and take the lead on a newly established software labor capitalization process that directly impacts our bottom line.
What Your Day Might Look Like
It is the second business day of the month, which means you are deep into the core month-end close. You start your morning by pulling the latest global payroll data from Workday, partnering closely with the People team to ensure all new hires, transfers, and compensation changes across North America, Europe, and APAC are accurately captured. You translate this data, ensuring it flows perfectly into NetSuite for the management team to review.
In the afternoon, you jump on a call with our IT and Engineering leaders. We have recently implemented a new policy to capitalize software development labor costs, and you are taking the reins from an external contractor who set up the initial framework. You ask the right questions to understand exactly which development projects qualify, ensuring our accounting reflects the true value of the technology we are building.
Before logging off, you review your journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, knowing that your meticulous work over these first three days of the month sets the foundation for our broader corporate reporting to CBRE.
What You Will Own:
- Global payroll accounting across North America, Europe, and APAC, ensuring accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Management of software development labor capitalization process, partnering with the Digital team to ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Month-end close responsibilities for your dedicated areas, hitting strict three-day internal deadlines before moving into post-close analysis.
- Collaboration with the People team to ensure all employee lifecycle changes are reflected in the correct accounting period.
- Development and refinement of internal controls and procedures to help the accounting function achieve and maintain SOC compliance.
You Will Love This Role If:
- You thrive when given full ownership of a process and enjoy rolling up your sleeves to understand the 'why' behind the numbers.
- You are a natural translator who loves speaking with non-finance partners, turning complex HR and IT activities into clear accounting outcomes.
- You find energy in a condensed, high-stakes month-end close where accuracy and speed matter.
- You enjoy taking a newly built framework, learning its intricacies, and finding ways to make it more efficient over time.
- You are highly communicative and responsive, valuing strong team connection even when working in a remote or hybrid setup.
This Role Is Probably Not for You If:
- You prefer a fully established, unchanging playbook where you never have to build or refine a process.
- You find a condensed three-day month-end close overwhelming and prefer a more drawn-out reporting timeline.
- You prefer to stay siloed in your accounting software rather than actively speaking with cross-functional partners in HR and IT.
- You struggle to explain accounting principles without relying heavily on technical financial jargon.
What We Are Looking for:
- 4 to 6 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a multi-entity or global environment.
- Direct experience managing global payroll accounting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting systems like NetSuite and Workday, alongside advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, with exposure to software capitalization highly preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward a CPA is a strong plus).
Compensation
The base salary for this role is $90,000-$95,000, depending on experience, skills, and role alignment. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus and participation in our long-term incentive program. But compensation is only part of the story.
At Industrious, we believe a good workplace supports the whole person. Not just the work they do. Our benefits are designed to give people the stability, flexibility, and room to grow that make a career sustainable.
Our Benefits May Include:
- Heavily subsidized medical, dental, and vision plans to support you and your family
- Flexible paid time off, to maintain balance
- Paid parental leave to help you welcome a new child and focus on what matters most
- Annual professional development grants so you can keep learning and growing
- 401(k) retirement savings program to support long-term financial wellbeing
- Wellness initiatives and additional employee support programs
- Specific benefits may vary by role, location, and eligibility requirements

Which construction companies sponsor Green Cards in New York?
Large general contractors and engineering firms with a documented history of Green Card sponsorship in New York include Turner Construction, Skanska USA, AECOM, Lendlease, and Tishman Construction. Public agencies like the MTA and Port Authority also hire through contractors that support sponsorship. Sponsorship is most common for roles requiring specialized credentials, and not every open position will come with an offer to sponsor.
Which cities in New York have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of construction Green Card sponsorship activity in the state, driven by ongoing commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects across all five boroughs. Long Island and Westchester County also see consistent activity tied to transit and development projects. Buffalo has grown as a secondary market, particularly around renewable energy and manufacturing-related construction. Albany shows demand linked to state government infrastructure programs.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in New York?
Green Card sponsorship in construction most commonly applies to roles that require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field, such as civil engineers, structural engineers, project managers, construction managers, and estimators. Specialty roles in MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineering and geotechnical work also appear regularly. Trade roles like carpenters or ironworkers are less commonly sponsored through employment-based Green Card pathways, though exceptions exist for workers with highly specialized skills.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, including Green Card sponsorship in construction. You can filter by state and visa type to see New York construction roles from employers with a history of sponsoring. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings that rarely disclose sponsorship policies upfront. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate also helps you track roles matched to your qualifications and target employers actively hiring sponsored candidates.
Are there New York-specific considerations for construction Green Card sponsorship?
New York State's prevailing wage laws apply to publicly funded construction projects, which means sponsored workers on those sites must be paid at state-determined rates, not just the federal prevailing wage used for PERM labor certification. This can affect how employers structure Green Card sponsorship for public works roles. New York City's building codes and licensing requirements also mean that certain engineering and project management roles may require state-specific credentials, which can influence whether an employer is willing to sponsor a candidate without those credentials already in place.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
