Which fashion and apparel companies in New York sponsor Green Card visas?
Several major New York-based fashion employers have established Green Card sponsorship histories, including PVH Corp (parent of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger), Tapestry (Kate Spade, Coach), Ralph Lauren, G-III Apparel Group, and VF Corporation's New York offices. Luxury and contemporary brands headquartered in Manhattan also sponsor through PERM for design, technical, and corporate roles where specialized skills are documented.
Which cities in New York have the most fashion and apparel Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan dominates, particularly Midtown and the Garment District near Seventh Avenue, where most major fashion corporate headquarters and showrooms are concentrated. Long Island City in Queens has seen growth from e-commerce and apparel logistics operations. Buffalo and Rochester have smaller but active apparel manufacturing and retail operations, though Green Card sponsorship activity there is considerably more limited than in New York City.
What types of fashion and apparel roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in New York?
Roles that commonly support Green Card sponsorship include technical designers, pattern makers with specialized training, merchandising managers, textile and materials developers, product lifecycle management specialists, fashion technology roles, and senior sourcing and supply chain managers. Positions requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in fashion design, textile science, or business are well-positioned for PERM labor certification, which requires the employer to demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available.
How do I find fashion and apparel Green Card sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for fashion and apparel roles in New York with confirmed Green Card sponsorship history, so you can focus on employers who have actually filed PERM applications for comparable positions. Searching by employer LCA and PERM filing data helps identify companies with active sponsorship programs in design, merchandising, and product development, rather than relying on unverified job listings.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in fashion and apparel?
New York City's prevailing wage requirements under PERM are set at levels reflecting the high cost of the metropolitan labor market, which employers must meet or exceed when filing. New York State also has active labor enforcement, meaning PERM recruitment steps must be carefully documented. Fashion roles tied to seasonal collections can complicate sponsorship timelines, since PERM requires a permanent, full-time position with stable, ongoing duties rather than project-based or temporary work.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card fashion & apparel jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
