Which automotive companies sponsor H-1B visas in New York?
H-1B visa sponsorship in New York's automotive sector comes primarily from Tier 1 suppliers, fleet management companies, and mobility technology firms. Aptiv, Delphi Technologies, and enterprise fleet operators based in the Buffalo and Hudson Valley regions have documented H-1B filing histories. Automotive technology and connected vehicle startups in the New York City metro area also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data.
Which cities in New York have the most automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Buffalo and the western New York region have the strongest concentration of traditional automotive supplier activity, driven by proximity to the Detroit corridor. The New York City metro area, including Long Island, attracts automotive software, connected vehicle, and fleet technology roles. Albany and the Hudson Valley corridor also host engineering and R&D functions tied to advanced manufacturing and mobility innovation initiatives.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in New York?
Roles that consistently qualify as H-1B specialty occupations in the automotive sector include mechanical and electrical engineers, embedded systems and software engineers, vehicle dynamics specialists, quality assurance engineers, and data analysts supporting connected vehicle platforms. The position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field directly related to the job duties. General technician or assembly roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B sponsorship and lets you filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface automotive roles in New York from employers with verified sponsorship histories. Because many automotive companies post openings without explicitly mentioning visa sponsorship in the listing, searching through a platform that cross-references DOL LCA data, like Migrate Mate, saves significant time compared to general job searches.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for automotive H-1B sponsorship?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under the Labor Condition Application process reflect regional wage levels, which in metro areas like New York City tend to be higher than national averages for the same occupation. Employers filing LCAs for automotive roles in New York must certify compliance with the applicable prevailing wage for the specific work location, meaning a role based in Buffalo will carry different wage obligations than the same role based in Manhattan.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B automotive jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
