Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B visas in North Dakota?
The largest H-1B visa sponsors in North Dakota's healthcare sector are Sanford Health and Essentia Health, both of which operate extensive hospital and clinic networks across the state. CHI St. Alexius Health and Altru Health System in Grand Forks also have histories of sponsoring international healthcare workers. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences round out the primary sponsoring employers.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Fargo accounts for the largest share of healthcare H-1B positions in North Dakota, driven by Sanford Health's flagship campus and a growing network of specialty clinics. Bismarck and Grand Forks are the next most active markets, supported by CHI St. Alexius and Altru Health System respectively. Minot sees more limited but steady demand, particularly for physicians willing to serve its regional catchment area.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in North Dakota?
Roles that routinely qualify are those requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field as a minimum entry requirement. In healthcare, this includes physicians, surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical laboratory scientists, and health informaticists. Registered nurses can qualify under H-1B when a BSN is formally required, though employers sometimes pursue alternative visa categories for nursing staff.
How do I find healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa sponsorship type, so you can search healthcare H-1B jobs in North Dakota directly without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces roles at health systems like Sanford Health and Essentia Health that have active sponsorship programs. Filtering by state and visa type on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to reviewing individual employer career pages.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in North Dakota's healthcare sector?
North Dakota's designation of many counties as Health Professional Shortage Areas means employers actively recruit internationally, which can support the specialty occupation argument in an H-1B petition. However, state licensure is a separate requirement from federal visa approval, and candidates must verify that their foreign credentials meet the North Dakota Board of Medicine or relevant licensing board's standards before or alongside sponsorship. Rural service locations may also carry expectations around service commitments tied to separate loan repayment programs, which are independent of H-1B terms.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B healthcare jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
