Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B visas in Oregon?
Oregon's largest H-1B healthcare sponsors include Oregon Health & Science University, Providence Health & Services, Legacy Health, PeaceHealth, and Tuality Healthcare. OHSU is particularly active given its dual role as a research university and hospital system, filing H-1B petitions across clinical, research, and academic medicine roles. Smaller specialty clinics and community health centers also sponsor, though less frequently.
Which cities in Oregon have the most healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the majority of healthcare H-1B activity in Oregon, driven by OHSU, Providence, and Legacy Health's flagship campuses. Salem and Eugene each have regional hospital systems that sponsor H-1B workers at a smaller scale. Bend is a growing market, with St. Charles Health System expanding its specialist workforce, occasionally including H-1B roles.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Oregon?
Roles that qualify are those requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field. In Oregon healthcare, this commonly includes physicians, surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical researchers, clinical data scientists, and healthcare IT specialists. Registered nurses generally do not qualify because USCIS has historically found the role does not consistently require a specific degree field.
How do I find healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B), industry (healthcare), and state (Oregon) to see verified sponsoring employers and open roles in one place. Generic job boards rarely indicate visa sponsorship status accurately, which makes Migrate Mate a more reliable starting point for narrowing down Oregon healthcare employers who actively file H-1B petitions.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B healthcare workers in Oregon?
Oregon requires independent professional licensing regardless of H-1B approval. Physicians must obtain an Oregon Medical Board license, pharmacists must clear the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, and therapists must satisfy Oregon Health Licensing Office requirements. Licensing timelines vary and can affect your start date, so it's worth initiating the state licensing process in parallel with the H-1B petition rather than waiting for visa approval first.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B healthcare jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
