Which hospitality companies sponsor H-2B visas in Texas?
Texas H-2B visa sponsors in hospitality include waterpark resorts, Gulf Coast beach hotels, dude ranches, and large event venues. Employers like Schlitterbahn Waterparks, Moody Gardens in Galveston, and national hotel chains operating seasonal properties along the Texas coast appear regularly in Department of Labor H-2B disclosure data. Smaller resort operators in the Hill Country and Big Bend region also petition, particularly for summer and holiday seasons.
Which cities in Texas have the most hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Galveston leads Texas for hospitality H-2B activity given its concentration of waterparks, beach resorts, and cruise-adjacent hotels with strong seasonal demand. San Antonio sees consistent sponsorship tied to its tourism industry around the River Walk and theme parks. Fredericksburg and the broader Hill Country wine country generate seasonal openings at lodges and event venues, while South Padre Island produces H-2B filings from beachfront resorts each summer.
What types of hospitality roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary non-agricultural work, so qualifying hospitality roles are those with a clear seasonal or peak-period need the employer can document. Common positions include housekeeping staff, food and beverage servers, amusement park attendants, lifeguards, and resort guest services workers. Roles requiring a U.S. bachelor's degree as a standard entry requirement generally fall outside H-2B and would need a different visa category such as H-1B visa.
How do I find hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate lists hospitality positions with H-2B visa sponsorship filtered specifically by Texas, so you can browse current openings from employers already willing to petition. Because H-2B is seasonal and quota-driven, timing matters significantly. Searching Migrate Mate early in the hiring cycle, before employers exhaust their H-2B cap allocations, gives you the best chance of connecting with active sponsors before positions fill.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for hospitality H-2B sponsorship?
Texas employers must still follow federal H-2B requirements, but the state's Gulf Coast seasonality and large tourism calendar create predictable annual filing windows, typically for summer and major holiday periods. Because Texas has no state income tax, take-home pay calculations differ from other states. Workers should also be aware that H-2B status is tied to a specific employer and job location, so switching Texas employers mid-season requires a new petition and approval before starting work.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B hospitality jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
