About The Role
This is a career-defining opportunity to play a crucial role in a hyper-scale AI company that is transforming the future of autonomous systems, energy, and the built environment. As the Computational Physics Software Engineer, you will play a meaningful role in our AI team developing differentiable physics-based equipment inferencer environment within an AI-driven control engine.
What You’ll Do
Build infrastructure: Develop and maintain infrastructure for a differentiable multi-physics simulation engine.
Design interfaces: Develop an interface with the object model through Object Relational Mapping.
Control path support: Provide an infrastructure to support PassiveLogic’s control path predictor and front-end simulation environments.
Develop autonomous systems: Develop robust autonomous software that must run with no human supervision for decades.
Ensure robust systems: Use thoughtful architecture design, documentation, unit testing, integration testing, profiling, and collaboration with the Formal Methods team to ensure this robustness.
Collaboration: Collaborate with the Digital Twins team for physics optimization and collaborate with the Compiler team for accelerator approaches.
What You’ll Bring
If your experience does not meet all our posted requirements below, we’d still love to hear from you. We are looking for practitioners who are passionate about understanding people, committed to lifelong learning, and driven by the love of what they do. If that’s you, please apply!
You must have
Proven experience: Strong proficiency in systems programming languages such as Swift, Rust, C++, or Java, as well as appreciable software engineering skills in working with large codebases with non-trivial architecture, beyond just coding small (1000’s of lines) programs and scripts.
Exceptional communication skills: Extraordinary teammate with excellent interpersonal skills.
Organized and strategic: Experience with software design, design patterns, and software architecture.
Collaborative mindset: Strong self-motivation towards PassiveLogic’s mission to “empower people through generative autonomy to solve the world's largest climate challenges.”
Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, eager to learn, iterate, and innovate.
Problem solving: You own this role. When issues arise, be the empowered force that solves them, rolling-up.
You should have
Experience with:
- Code performance and memory optimization
- Concurrency, threads, processes, Lib-dispatch/GCD
- GPU programming, high-performance computing, and scientific computing
- Vector, SIMD, and tensor computational methods
- Strong math, numerical methods, and analysis skills
It’s helpful to have
A relevant educational background: A BS, MS, or PhD in software engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physics or other engineering degrees.
Varied programming and domain experience: Experience with Swift programming language, auto-differentiation, systems modeling and algorithm development, fundamentals of building energy or electromechanical systems, and/or autonomous systems.
Familiarity with the startup environment: Experience working and collaborating in a startup.
We know there are candidates who might not fit everything we’ve described above, or who might have experience and skills we haven’t considered. PassiveLogic can sometimes be flexible enough to shift responsibilities to the right person, or otherwise identify open or upcoming roles that may better fit your professional background. Which artificial intelligence companies sponsor E-3 visas in Utah?
Several established tech employers in Utah have filed Labor Condition Applications for AI-related roles, including Adobe, Qualtrics, and various software and data analytics firms headquartered along the Silicon Slopes corridor between Salt Lake City and Provo. A number of AI-focused startups in the region have also demonstrated E-3 sponsorship history, particularly for machine learning and data science positions.
Which cities in Utah have the most artificial intelligence E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and the broader Wasatch Front account for the majority of Utah's AI sponsorship activity. The Silicon Slopes area, which spans Lehi, Provo, and American Fork, hosts a dense concentration of technology companies actively hiring for AI and machine learning roles. Ogden also has a smaller but growing presence of tech employers with documented sponsorship history.
What types of artificial intelligence roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that commonly meet the E-3 specialty occupation standard in AI include machine learning engineer, data scientist, natural language processing researcher, computer vision engineer, and AI product manager. Each position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, mathematics, or statistics. O*NET occupation profiles can help confirm whether a specific role meets the specialty occupation definition.
How do I find artificial intelligence E-3 sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter for AI roles in Utah where employers have verified E-3 Labor Condition Application filing history. That means every result on Migrate Mate reflects documented sponsorship activity rather than unconfirmed willingness to sponsor. Searching by occupation category and filtering to Utah narrows results to employers who have already demonstrated they understand the E-3 process.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in Utah's AI sector?
Utah does not impose additional state-level visa requirements beyond federal E-3 rules, but the competitive nature of Silicon Slopes hiring means some employers move quickly from offer to Labor Condition Application filing. AI roles in Utah often intersect with defense and government contracting work, where additional security clearance requirements may affect hiring timelines independently of the visa process. Confirming that a prospective employer has prior E-3 or H-1B visa filing experience can streamline the process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 artificial intelligence jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
