Which construction companies sponsor Green Card visas in Wisconsin?
Larger general contractors and specialty firms with long-term project pipelines are the most common Green Card sponsors in Wisconsin construction. Companies like Mortenson Construction, Miron Construction, J.H. Findorff & Son, and Boldt Company have the HR infrastructure and ongoing staffing needs that typically support PERM labor certification filings. Smaller subcontractors sponsor less frequently, as the process requires significant legal and administrative resources.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee leads the state by volume, driven by commercial development, healthcare campus expansions, and public infrastructure projects. Madison follows closely, with sustained university, government, and mixed-use development activity. The Fox Valley region, including Appleton and Oshkosh, supports a strong industrial and commercial construction base. Green Bay also generates consistent demand, particularly for manufacturing facility and distribution center construction.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles most commonly sponsored include civil engineers, structural engineers, construction project managers, estimators, and site superintendents, particularly where a specific degree or technical credential is required. Skilled trades workers, including electricians, ironworkers, and operating engineers, can qualify through EB-3 sponsorship when employers demonstrate a persistent labor shortage through the PERM process. Roles requiring specialized certifications or licensure tend to have stronger sponsorship cases.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters construction jobs in Wisconsin by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card. Rather than sifting through general job boards where sponsorship status is rarely disclosed upfront, Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have demonstrated a history of sponsoring permanent residency. You can filter by state and industry to focus exclusively on Wisconsin construction opportunities that match your background.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in construction?
Wisconsin's prevailing wage laws apply to publicly funded construction projects and directly affect the PERM labor certification process, since employers must demonstrate they are paying at or above the federally determined prevailing wage for the role and location. Projects tied to state or municipal contracts often have stricter documentation requirements. Union affiliation is also common on larger Wisconsin job sites, and union agreements can influence how employers structure sponsorship for certain craft positions.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
