Job Description
Under the general supervision and direction of the Logistics Supervisor, the Dock/Inventory Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting with the work flow on the dock. This position will work with the Material Handler and Shipping teams to ensure smooth functioning of all dock activities and product handling on a day to day basis.
- Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
- Assists the shipping team with organizing incoming and outgoing shipments including receiving, verifying, proper storage, and record keeping of shipments & equipment.
- Assist the shipping team with preparing items for shipment. Duties include: preparing ARF, assembling, temping, coding, addressing, stamping, and shipping product, equipment or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying temping, coding and recording incoming product, equipment, or material
- Have knowledge of 49 CFR part 172 and all of its entities, IATA Dangerous Goods, DOT hazardous materials.
- Ensures safety and emergency readiness programs are carried out properly when working.
- Assists the shipping team to prepare documents such as work orders, bill of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Verify and document incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of material occurring during scheduled shift.
- Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, temperatures, and damages for reporting, accounting, inventory, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Assist with running of errands, procurement pickups and deliveries as needed.
- Participates in supporting overall facility maintenance as needed.
- Assists with all duties related to receiving, distributing, storing, dispensing, of Inventory items.
- Develop and maintain on-going relationships with other departments to work with them in meeting the company’s needs.
- Load/Unload freight in a safe manner. Operates and maintains all equipment needed for handling is in good and safe working condition.
- Verify contents of material received under purchase orders.
- Report shortages, damages, and incorrect shipments on appropriate forms and inform the designated personnel.
- Ensure proper rotation and organization of stock and participate in physical inventories.
- Confirm internal stock requisitions, ensuring the correct number and types of product are ordered and delivered.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly dock area.
- Accurately maintain record in area of responsibility (i.e. receiving, shipping, and controlled substances).
- Work closely with internal personnel to maintain understanding of controlled substance handling and effectively control the materials and record to meet all legal, regulatory and company requirements.
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Shipping Knowledge
- Certified in IATA Dangerous Goods
- Knowledge of DOT Hazardous Materials
- Ability to learn new tasks
- Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently
High School Degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent certificate from a certified institution; one to two years of related experience and/or training
Additional Information
Expected to understand the process for handling hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in their job area
Overtime and weekend work as required
Will be exposed to potential food allergens.
