VP Finance Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vp finance in Texas?
Most vp finance roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and an MBA or equivalent advanced credential, with a CPA license issued or recognized by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy giving candidates a significant edge. The typical path runs through senior finance manager or director roles in a Texas-based company before reaching the vp level, often within energy, healthcare, or technology organizations where large finance functions develop deep leadership pipelines.
Which companies hire vp finances in Texas?
Employers hiring vp finances in Texas right now include JPMorganChase, ISS Facility Services, and KERIX, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major hospital systems, and large energy companies means demand is spread across several industries rather than dominated by a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most vp finance jobs?
Dallas, Plano, and Houston consistently post the most vp finance openings in Texas, driven by Houston's outsized energy and healthcare employer base, Dallas's dense concentration of corporate headquarters and financial services firms, and Austin's fast-growing technology sector that has attracted regional and national headquarters over the past decade.
Are there remote vp finance jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many senior leadership roles, since vp finance work is largely analytical and strategic rather than tied to a physical site. About 67% of vp finance openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common given board and executive meeting requirements. Financial planning, reporting oversight, and investor relations functions are the parts of the role most often performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a vp finance in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a senior financial analyst or finance manager role at a large Texas employer, where internal promotion to director and eventually vp level is common at companies such as major Houston energy firms or Dallas-based healthcare systems. Earning a CPA through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and pursuing an MBA from a Texas program strengthens your candidacy, while lateral moves from corporate controller or FP&A director roles are among the most direct routes to a first vp finance title.
Where can I find and apply to vp finance jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to vp finance jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your industry background and seniority level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
