Most employers in Hartford, Stamford, and New Haven look for a high school diploma at minimum, with an associate or bachelor's degree in business administration preferred. Earning a credential such as the Certified Administrative Professional designation strengthens a candidate's profile considerably for competitive roles at law firms, insurance carriers, and hospital systems.
How much do administrative assistants make in Connecticut?
Administrative assistants in Connecticut earn a median of about $82,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,880 for the lowest 10% to over $119,030 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire administrative assistants in Connecticut?

Hartford anchors the market as the state capital and home to major insurance and healthcare employers, while Stamford draws demand from financial services and corporate headquarters in Fairfield County, and New Haven benefits from Yale University, Yale New Haven Health, and a growing biotech sector that supports significant administrative staffing needs.
Are there remote administrative assistant jobs in Connecticut?
Yes, and more than many support roles. About 26% of administrative assistant openings tied to Connecticut are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of much of the work. Tasks like calendar management, correspondence, data entry, and report preparation translate well to remote settings, and Connecticut's financial services and insurance sectors have been particularly active in offering hybrid arrangements for experienced administrative professionals.

Community colleges such as Manchester Community College and Naugatuck Valley Community College offer administrative professional programs that provide practical skills employers recognize. A completed associate degree or a Microsoft Office certification gives applicants a clear edge when competing for these entry-level openings.
