Banking Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a banking in Delaware?
Most banking roles in Delaware require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, though some entry-level positions accept an associate degree combined with relevant experience. Roles involving securities or investment products require FINRA licensing, such as a Series 6 or Series 7, obtained through exams administered under FINRA's national framework. Delaware does not have a separate state banking license for most employees, but mortgage loan originators must register through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System and pass the NMLS exam.
Which companies hire bankings in Delaware?
Companies currently hiring bankings in Delaware include JPMorganChase, M&T Bank, and WSFS Bank, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's status as a corporate and financial hub means large national banks, credit card issuers, and regional institutions all maintain significant hiring operations in and around Wilmington.
Which Delaware cities have the most banking jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and Dover are the Delaware cities with the most banking job openings. Wilmington drives the majority of demand as the state's financial center, home to major bank headquarters, credit card operations, and corporate treasury functions, while Dover and Newark benefit from regional branch networks and community banking institutions that serve central and northern Delaware residents.
Are there remote banking jobs in Delaware?
Yes, though they are more selective than in purely desk-based fields, since many banking roles involve branch operations, client meetings, or vault and compliance responsibilities that require an on-site presence. About 67% of banking openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the broader industry shift toward flexible work. Roles most likely to be remote include credit analysis, back-office operations, fraud review, and certain compliance or audit functions.
How can I get hired as a banking in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for teller, personal banker, or loan processor roles at Delaware's retail branch networks, where large employers like M&T Bank and Artisans' Bank regularly bring in candidates without prior experience and train on the job. Community banks and credit unions such as DEXSTA Federal Credit Union often post associate-level openings that value customer service background from retail or hospitality. Earning an NMLS registration or beginning a Series 6 exam prep course signals initiative and gives you a concrete edge when competing for entry-level openings.
