Brand Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a brand manager in California?
Most brand managers in California start with a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or communications, as no state-issued license or California-specific credential is required for the role. California employers typically look for candidates who have progressed through marketing coordinator or brand associate roles before moving into management. An MBA or a certification from the American Marketing Association can accelerate advancement at larger California consumer goods and technology companies.
How much do brand managers make in California?
Brand managers in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire brand managers in California?
Employers hiring brand managers in California right now include TikTok, Jazwares, and Abbott, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of consumer brands, entertainment studios, and technology companies means brand management roles appear across a wider range of industries here than in most other states.
Which California cities have the most brand manager jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Irvine have the most brand manager openings in California. Los Angeles dominates because of its entertainment, fashion, and consumer goods headquarters, while San Francisco and San Jose draw demand from technology and software companies with dedicated brand teams, and San Diego's openings are driven by biotech, wellness, and lifestyle brands headquartered in the region.
Are there remote brand manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than many marketing roles, since brand strategy and campaign planning are largely desk-based. About 55% of brand manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly California tech and media companies have adopted flexible work. Brand managers handling national campaigns or digital channels tend to have the most remote flexibility, while roles requiring regular agency, retail, or production studio collaboration skew on-site.
How can I get hired as a brand manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a marketing coordinator or brand associate role at a California consumer goods, retail, or technology company. Large California employers including Target's West Coast offices, Mattel, and major entertainment studios run rotational marketing programs and new-graduate openings that feed into brand teams. Building a portfolio through freelance campaign work, a digital marketing certificate, or social media management for a small California brand can also help candidates without direct brand management experience stand out.
Where can I find and apply to brand manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to brand manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly without creating an account or signing up.
