Business Account Executive Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business account executive in Virginia?
Most business account executive roles in Virginia require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license is mandated for the role. Employers in Northern Virginia frequently prioritize candidates who can obtain a federal security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and a background investigation. Building experience in inside sales, account coordination, or business development at a Virginia technology or government contracting firm is the most direct path to an account executive title.
How much do business account executives make in Virginia?
Business account executives in Virginia earn a median of about $72,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,700 for the lowest 10% to over $169,610 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business account executives in Virginia?
Employers hiring business account executives in Virginia right now include Spectrum, Comcast, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Virginia's concentration of defense contractors and technology firms in the Northern Virginia corridor means many openings are tied to government or enterprise accounts.
Which Virginia cities have the most business account executive jobs?
Arlington, Springfield, and Virginia account for the largest share of business account executive openings in Virginia. Northern Virginia's density of technology and government contracting headquarters drives the bulk of listings, while Richmond's financial services and healthcare sectors support steady demand and Virginia Beach serves as the commercial hub for the Hampton Roads business community.
Are there remote business account executive jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and they are more common than in many other fields, since account executive work centers on calls, video meetings, and digital outreach rather than a fixed worksite. About 100% of business account executive openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely distributed client bases have become. Fully remote roles are most prevalent in SaaS, cloud, and telecommunications accounts where travel is periodic rather than daily.
How can I get hired as a business account executive in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a sales development representative or inside sales associate role at a Northern Virginia technology or managed services company, where structured training programs are common before promotion into full account executive responsibility. Employers like Booz Allen Hamilton and large telecom providers in the region run rotational or associate programs that bring in candidates from adjacent roles such as customer success, marketing coordinator, or account coordinator. A Salesforce administrator certification or any solution-selling credential strengthens a resume when experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to business account executive jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to business account executive jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Virginia openings across Northern Virginia, Richmond, Virginia Beach, and other markets. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to each employer.
