Business Development Representative Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development representative in Kansas?
Most Kansas employers hire business development representatives with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications, though some accept equivalent work experience. There is no state-issued license or Kansas-specific credential required for the role. The typical path is applying directly to companies in Wichita or the Kansas City metro, starting in an SDR or inside-sales role, and building CRM and prospecting skills. Completing a recognized sales methodology training program strengthens early-career applications.
How much do business development representatives make in Kansas?
Business development representatives in Kansas earn a median of about $62,580 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $34,200 for the lowest 10% to over $147,800 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development representatives in Kansas?
Kansas business development representative roles are posted by Shamrock Trading Corporation, Baxter Auto, and Concentrix and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's mix of technology firms, financial services companies, and agriculture-technology businesses creates consistent demand for business development representatives with B2B and SaaS sales backgrounds.
Which Kansas cities have the most business development representative jobs?
Overland Park, Lenexa, and Olathe have the most business development representative openings in Kansas. The Kansas City metro and Overland Park concentrate the largest share of roles because of the dense cluster of technology, financial services, and corporate headquarters located there, while Wichita's aviation, manufacturing, and regional enterprise software companies drive demand in the south-central part of the state.
Are there remote business development representative jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because business development representative work centers on phone, email, and video outreach rather than in-person tasks. About 67% of business development representative openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted to virtual selling. Fully remote openings are most common in SaaS and technology companies, while financial services and manufacturing-adjacent employers more often require in-office or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a business development representative in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to associate SDR or sales development programs at technology and financial services firms in the Overland Park and Kansas City metro area, where companies like Cerner (Oracle Health) and regional fintech firms run structured onboarding tracks for early-career candidates. Lateral moves from customer service, account management, or retail roles are common stepping stones. Completing a recognized sales certification and demonstrating proficiency in a CRM platform like Salesforce gives candidates without direct experience a concrete edge in Kansas applications.
Where can I find and apply to business development representative jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to business development representative jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kansas openings updated regularly. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your background and target location, and apply directly through each listing.
