Frame your fintech leadership experience precisely
Brex hires Software Engineering Managers who have led teams building payment systems, credit infrastructure, or financial APIs. When preparing your resume, align your experience to regulated financial products rather than general engineering management.
Confirm H-1B eligibility before your first interview
Software Engineering Manager is a specialty occupation, but confirm your degree field aligns with the role. USCIS scrutinizes management positions, so pairing a computer science or engineering degree with direct technical leadership experience strengthens your petition.
Research Brex's engineering org structure before applying
Brex structures engineering teams around product verticals like spend management and corporate cards. Targeting teams where your technical domain matches their current build priorities gets your application in front of the most relevant hiring managers.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B cap registration window opens in March. You'll need your offer finalized well before then. Brex's recruiting cycles often run several months ahead, so start outreach early enough to land an offer before registration closes.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Brex openings
Software Engineering Manager openings at Brex open and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current Brex roles that explicitly support visa sponsorship, so you're applying to live positions rather than stale listings.
Understand how PERM affects your green card timeline
Brex sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process. For Software Engineering Managers, DOL requires demonstrating no qualified U.S. worker is available, which can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS filing even begins.

Does Brex sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineering Managers?
Yes, Brex sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineering Manager roles. The company has an established sponsorship track record across its engineering organization, including leadership positions. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, you'll need an offer in place before the March registration window. Brex also supports H-1B transfers, so you don't need to wait for the next cap cycle if you're already on an active H-1B.
How do I apply for Software Engineering Manager jobs at Brex?
Apply directly through Brex's careers page, or use Migrate Mate to browse current Software Engineering Manager openings at Brex that are open to visa sponsorship. Brex's engineering hiring process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical leadership discussions, and systems design interviews. Roles are organized by product area, so targeting a team whose domain matches your background improves your chances of moving forward.
Which visa types does Brex commonly sponsor for Software Engineering Manager roles?
Brex sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization path for Software Engineering Managers. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still in academic programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles, and Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa categories for longer-term employees.
What qualifications does Brex expect for a Software Engineering Manager?
Brex expects Software Engineering Managers to have a background in software engineering, not just people management. You'll typically need hands-on experience building backend systems or financial infrastructure, prior team leadership, and the ability to drive technical strategy. A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related engineering discipline is standard, and directly relevant fintech or payments experience sets stronger candidates apart.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship timeline when targeting Brex?
Start the process earlier than you think you need to. If you're on F-1 OPT, factor in the H-1B cap registration timeline and work backward from the March USCIS window to figure out when you need an offer. If Brex proceeds with Green Card sponsorship, expect the PERM labor certification process through DOL to take over a year before your I-140 petition can be filed with USCIS.
