Frame your credentials around fintech operations
Brex evaluates Business Operations candidates on their ability to work within regulated financial environments. Tailor your resume to highlight experience with financial controls, vendor management, or process optimization in banking or payments contexts before applying.
Confirm your OPT timeline before outreach
If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your remaining authorized period against Brex's typical hiring cycle. Roles in Business Operations often involve multi-stage interviews, so starting with six or fewer months of OPT remaining creates a tight window before you'd need H-1B cap-subject filing.
Target roles that align with H-1B specialty occupation criteria
Not every Business Operations title at a fintech company qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Focus on roles requiring a specific bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, since generalist operations titles can attract extra USCIS scrutiny at the petition stage.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Brex openings
Business Operations roles at Brex open and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current Brex postings that explicitly support visa sponsorship, so you're applying to live roles rather than chasing listings that have already been filled internally.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
When Brex extends an offer, ask your recruiter whether sponsorship covers initial H-1B filing, PERM labor certification, and Green Card processing, or only cap-subject petitions. Business Operations hires sometimes assume full sponsorship but receive only OPT-to-H-1B bridge support.
Account for DOL prevailing wage timing in your planning
Brex must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition reaches USCIS. Factor this into your start date expectations, particularly if you're transitioning from a grace period, since LCA certification typically adds one to two weeks to the overall filing timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Brex sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Brex sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations roles. The key factor is whether the specific position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Roles with clear ties to finance, financial operations, or business analysis tend to meet this threshold more reliably than broadly scoped generalist titles.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Brex?
Apply through Brex's careers page or use Migrate Mate to browse current Business Operations openings at Brex that support visa sponsorship. Before applying, confirm the role matches your visa category and that your authorization timeline accommodates a multi-stage interview process. Tailoring your application to Brex's fintech and financial services context strengthens your candidacy significantly.
Which visa types does Brex commonly use for Business Operations hires?
Brex sponsors H-1B visas for full-time Business Operations hires and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. For candidates on TN visa status, certain business-related roles may qualify depending on the specific job duties and degree alignment. Longer-term, Brex also sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for eligible employees pursuing permanent residence.
What qualifications does Brex expect for Business Operations roles?
Brex typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field, paired with hands-on experience in operations, process improvement, or cross-functional project management. For visa sponsorship purposes, the degree must align directly with the role's core duties. Familiarity with financial services workflows, regulatory environments, or fintech infrastructure strengthens both your application and your H-1B petition's specialty occupation standing.
How do I time my application around Brex's H-1B sponsorship process?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting a Business Operations role at Brex on OPT, aim to have an offer in place well before March so Brex can participate in the lottery on your behalf. Missing the registration window means waiting a full year, so early engagement with the recruiting team is essential.
