Assistant Teaching Professor serving as Lab Coordinator
The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications from academically qualified and professionally experienced individuals for a non-tenure track, 12-month position as Assistant Teaching Professor to teach and coordinate Lower and Upper division courses. The primary assignment for the successful candidate will coordinate and teach labs associated with the required upper division biology courses (Genetics, Cell Biology, Ecology, and Evolution) as well as those of Biochemistry and Microbiology or other lower division courses as needed. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences or related discipline from an accredited institution and be dedicated to providing an enriching learning experience and cutting-edge training. Experience with active learning and course-based undergraduate research (CURE) courses is highly desirable.
The Department of Biological Sciences is committed to developing novel learning activities that will prepare students for success in a fast-paced global environment. Coordination of the labs includes continued review and updating of course content, training of the teaching assistants for the labs, synchronizing lab activities with the material of the lecture course, and working with the biology stockroom doing the lab prep. Labs for these courses are taught every semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Teaching in undergraduate upper division courses or their labs is expected.
