Become a part of our caring community
Humana is undertaking a strategic transformation towards becoming a consumer-driven health care company. As part of this, the member onboarding experience has been identified as a critical moment in the customer engagement lifecycle. We are seeking a Consumer Onboarding Strategy Advisor to help progress this important work. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and transform new member experiences during one of the most pivotal moments in their journey with Humana – when they first join. Reporting to the Strategy Advancement Principal - Onboarding Strategy, you’ll partner with teammates in Enterprise Growth and with cross-functional partners (e.g., Marketing, Digital, Call Centers, Stars, etc.) to set the strategic vision for the reimagined onboarding experience. Thinking and acting big and small, this candidate will ensure that the program’s strategy, measurement plan, and consumer research priorities maintain a continuous feedback loop with our execution partners. This will also involve ensuring that workstreams stay aligned, on track, and in service of a thoughtful and helpful onboarding experience that delights customers and supports business objectives.
Additionally, this candidate will be closely involved in executive stakeholder engagement, including preparing for highly visible executive forums to showcase progress and impact across different strategic opportunities, escalating roadblocks, gathering commitments, and reconciling input.
This is not a feature roadmap role; it's a program leadership role with a dual focus: (1) ensuring that our onboarding approach continuously advocates for member needs (2) driving value for our business. You will act as a champion for our members to ensure that their needs are being met at every step of their journey and defining a delivery approach that produces incremental value.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic product manager (with member experience as your product) for Humana’s onboarding transformation program, ensuring that enterprise priorities are strategically aligned and all workstreams are operationally integrated.
- Partner with the Strategy Advancement Principal and consumer research team to hypothesize and analyze new pilots/opportunities that advance the program’s vision and member experience.
- Partner with consumer research, analytics, and business teams to develop member personas and segmentation strategies that inform onboarding priorities, uncover unmet member needs, and guide decisions across the member onboarding journey.
- Support and create onboarding measurement strategies, including KPIs, pilot evaluation criteria, and executive reporting, to ensure data-driven decision making, continuous improvement, and clear demonstration of program impact.
- Identify and size new opportunities, working with cross-functional partners, including finance, to determine NPV and alignment with enterprise goals/priorities.
- Collaborate with execution partners to translate the onboarding vision into a cohesive plan, including feasibility analysis with clear milestones and accountability.
- Elevate the Enterprise Onboarding Program's visibility and credibility among the executive audience by consistently demonstrating strong strategic prioritization and clear accountability across teams.
- Support executive communications including updates, readouts, reporting and escalation to senior stakeholders.
- Partner with workstream leads to maintain momentum, resolve blockers, and manage dependencies.
- Bring structure, clarity, and urgency to complex challenges, while staying grounded in member outcomes.
- Be an advocate for the members' needs, be willing to speak up and discuss difficult topics and be persuasive.

Frame your credentials around healthcare strategy
Humana's Strategy function sits inside a managed care and health insurance conglomerate, so tailor your resume to show experience with market entry, payer-provider dynamics, or population health economics. Generic strategy credentials read as a poor fit.
Target roles that align with LCA-approved positions
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for Humana's certified Labor Condition Applications under Strategy job titles. This tells you exactly which roles the company has committed to sponsoring and at what wage levels before you apply.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Strategy roles
Browse Humana's verified sponsorship-eligible Strategy openings directly on Migrate Mate. Filtering by visa type upfront saves you from investing weeks in an application process at a company that won't support your specific status.
Clarify OPT and CPT eligibility before your first interview
If you're on F-1 status, confirm whether the role qualifies under your declared major for CPT or OPT purposes. Humana's corporate strategy work often spans finance and operations, which can create STEM OPT extension eligibility complications depending on how your program is classified.
Negotiate H-1B filing timing into your offer discussion
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. If your offer comes after the lottery closes, get clarity in writing on whether Humana will bridge you on OPT or file for the following cap year so you're not left without status.
Understand how PERM affects long-term planning
Humana sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Strategy hires, which requires PERM labor certification through DOL. This process can take one to two years before an I-140 petition is filed, so ask your recruiter about the company's standard timeline early in negotiations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Humana sponsor H-1B visas for Strategys?
Yes, Humana sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy roles. The company has an established process for filing H-1B petitions through USCIS, including premium processing in some cases. Because H-1B approval depends on the annual lottery, your timeline will affect when sponsorship can begin. Candidates already on H-1B transfers face a smoother path since they bypass the cap entirely.
How do I apply for Strategy jobs at Humana?
Apply directly through Humana's careers portal, where Strategy roles are listed under Corporate Functions or Enterprise Strategy. To find positions that are confirmed sponsorship-eligible, browse Migrate Mate's verified listings filtered by Humana and visa type. Tailoring your application to show experience in health plan strategy, payer markets, or enterprise planning will strengthen your candidacy significantly.
Which visa types does Humana commonly use for Strategy roles?
Humana sponsors H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for Strategy positions, along with EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for longer-term Green Card pathways. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying specialty occupations. The right visa depends on your nationality, current status, and how the role is classified internally.
What qualifications does Humana expect for Strategy roles?
Strategy positions at Humana typically require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, public health, or a related field, with an MBA or advanced degree preferred for senior roles. Familiarity with managed care, health insurance markets, or value-based care models is a clear differentiator. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which generally means a degree in a specific, directly related field is a standard requirement.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Strategy hire at Humana?
For H-1B transfers, USCIS can process petitions in as little as two to three weeks with premium processing. New cap-subject H-1B filings follow a fixed calendar: registration opens in March, the lottery runs in April, and employment cannot begin before October 1. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through DOL typically takes one to three years before an I-140 is filed, depending on the priority date and country of birth.
