Get Your Phlebotomy Certification Before Applying
Quest prioritizes candidates who already hold a nationally recognized phlebotomy or clinical medical assistant certification, such as CMA or RMA. Having this credential before you apply removes a common early screening barrier and signals you're ready to work on day one.
Target Patient Service Center Postings Directly
Quest's Clinical Medical Assistant openings are concentrated in their patient service centers, not just hospital or reference lab settings. Search their careers portal by location and filter for patient services roles to find the highest-volume hiring pipeline for this specific function.
Confirm OPT or CPT Eligibility Before Your Interview
If you're on an F-1 visa, verify your OPT authorization dates align with Quest's typical onboarding timeline, which can run four to six weeks after an offer. Arriving at the offer stage without valid work authorization on hand stalls the process for both sides.
Understand How TN Status Applies to This Role
Canadian and Mexican nationals can pursue TN status for medical technologist or related classifications, but the job duties must clearly align with the approved TN occupation list. Work with your employer to confirm the Clinical Medical Assistant job description maps correctly before USCIS or a port of entry review.
Ask HR About H-1B Filing Timelines at Offer Stage
Quest's HR and immigration teams handle H-1B petitions through the annual April filing window. If you receive an offer outside that window, clarify whether they'll file a cap-subject petition in the next cycle and what your work authorization bridge looks like in the interim.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Roles by Visa Type
Sorting through which Quest postings are actively sponsoring for your specific visa type takes time. Use Migrate Mate to filter Clinical Medical Assistant openings at Quest Diagnostics by the visa categories that match your situation, so you apply where sponsorship is already in motion.

Find Clinical Medical Assistant at Quest Diagnostics JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Quest Diagnostics sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Medical Assistants?
Yes, Quest Diagnostics has a documented track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Clinical Medical Assistant roles. Sponsorship typically flows through their central HR and immigration team rather than individual hiring managers, so the strongest path is confirming sponsorship availability during the offer stage, before you reach the background check phase.
How do I apply for Clinical Medical Assistant jobs at Quest Diagnostics?
Applications go through Quest Diagnostics' careers portal, where you can filter by role type and location. Most Clinical Medical Assistant postings require an online application and an initial phone screen before an in-person or video interview. Migrate Mate also surfaces Quest's open Clinical Medical Assistant positions filtered by visa sponsorship availability, which helps you target the right postings faster.
Which visa types does Quest Diagnostics commonly use for Clinical Medical Assistant roles?
Quest sponsors H-1B and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term hires. F-1 students on OPT or CPT are also commonly placed in Clinical Medical Assistant roles, particularly for part-time or training-adjacent positions. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN status depending on how the specific job duties are classified.
What qualifications does Quest Diagnostics expect for Clinical Medical Assistant candidates?
Quest typically expects a medical assistant diploma or associate degree, plus a recognized certification such as CMA through AAMA or RMA through AMT. Phlebotomy competency is frequently listed as required rather than preferred. Prior experience in a high-volume patient service center or diagnostic lab environment strengthens your application significantly over a general clinical background.
How do I time my application around Quest's H-1B sponsorship process?
H-1B petitions are filed with USCIS each April for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting a cap-subject H-1B through Quest, aim to have an offer finalized by February or early March at the latest. Candidates already on OPT can start sooner and transition to H-1B in a subsequent cycle without interrupting employment.
