Frame your credentials around client delivery outcomes
Robert Half evaluates Development Managers on their ability to lead teams through client-facing project cycles. Before applying, document specific delivery metrics, team sizes managed, and methodologies used so your resume speaks directly to consulting engagements, not just internal product work.
Target Robert Half's direct-hire technology division
Robert Half operates staffing and direct-hire lines. For sponsored roles, focus on their permanent placement division, where sponsorship for E-3, TN, or Green Card pathways is more feasible than in contract staffing arrangements that typically require existing work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active sponsorship-eligible openings
Robert Half posts Development Manager roles across regions with varying sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for positions where Robert Half has confirmed sponsorship history for your visa category, so you're not chasing roles that won't support your situation.
Align your visa timeline with PERM labor market testing windows
If you're targeting a Green Card through an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway at Robert Half, the PERM process requires DOL-supervised recruitment lasting several months before filing. Start those sponsorship conversations early in the offer negotiation, not after you've already accepted a start date.
Confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation before the offer
USCIS requires that Development Manager positions demonstrate a direct relationship between the role's duties and a specific degree field. Ask the recruiter how the job description was written for previous visa filings to confirm the specialty occupation standard has been met for that role.
Prepare for state-level client placement scrutiny on LCA filings
Robert Half's consulting model often involves placing Development Managers at client sites across multiple states. DOL Labor Condition Applications must reflect the actual worksite location, so confirm your placement state early to avoid LCA amendments that delay your start date.

Does Robert Half sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Robert Half does not have a strong track record of H-1B sponsorship for Development Manager roles. Their sponsorship activity for this function has historically centered on E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and Green Card pathways. If H-1B is your only option, confirm sponsorship willingness directly with the recruiter before investing time in the interview process.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at Robert Half?
Applications go through Robert Half's careers portal, but the most effective path is engaging directly with a Robert Half technology recruiter who specializes in your functional area. For sponsored roles specifically, Migrate Mate lets you browse Development Manager openings at Robert Half that are filterable by visa type, so you can identify relevant positions before outreach.
Which visa types does Robert Half commonly use for Development Manager roles?
Robert Half has sponsored Development Managers on E-3 visas for Australian nationals, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican professionals, and F-1 OPT extensions for recent graduates. For longer-term placements, they have also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific role's structure.
What qualifications does Robert Half expect for Development Manager roles?
Robert Half's Development Manager openings typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, combined with several years of experience managing software development teams. Consulting sector roles often expect familiarity with agile delivery frameworks, client stakeholder management, and cross-functional team leadership in project-based environments.
How do I plan my timeline if Robert Half is sponsoring my visa for a Development Manager role?
E-3 and TN applications can move quickly, often resolving within a few weeks if your documents are in order. Green Card sponsorship through PERM takes considerably longer, with labor market testing and USCIS adjudication adding months to the process. Build that timeline into your offer conversation so both you and Robert Half have aligned expectations before your start date is set.
