Align Your Credentials to U.S. Standards
Robert Half's Finance roles often require CPA eligibility or CFA progress. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before applying so hiring managers and USCIS reviewers see a clean match to the role requirements.
Target Roles Through Robert Half's Direct Divisions
Robert Half operates distinct divisions including Accountemps and Robert Half Finance and Accounting. Applying through the right division for your Finance specialization, whether interim or permanent placement, increases the chance your application reaches a recruiter who handles sponsored roles.
Confirm Sponsorship Before Investing Time in Interviews
Staffing firms place candidates at client sites, so ask your Robert Half recruiter early whether the end client has approved sponsorship. The staffing firm initiates the visa filing, but the end client's willingness to support it determines whether sponsorship is actually available.
Understand How TN and E-3 Fit Finance Roles
For Canadian, Mexican, and Australian candidates, TN and E-3 visas offer faster paths into Finance roles than H-1B. Both avoid the annual lottery, and Robert Half has used these categories for Finance hires, so clarify your citizenship early in the recruiter conversation.
Track Your OPT Timeline Before Accepting a Placement
If you're on F-1 OPT, Robert Half can place you while your authorization is valid, but placements at client sites can affect your STEM OPT extension eligibility. Confirm with USCIS guidance that your placement structure qualifies as a bona fide employer relationship before signing.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Finance Openings with Confirmed Sponsorship
Filtering for Finance jobs at Robert Half across job boards wastes time on roles that don't support international candidates. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Finance openings at Robert Half that have a documented sponsorship history, so you apply where your visa category is already a known fit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Robert Half sponsor H-1B visas for Finance roles?
Robert Half does sponsor H-1B visas for Finance positions, though availability depends on the specific role and end client. Because Robert Half operates as a staffing firm, the H-1B petition is filed by Robert Half rather than the client company. Sponsorship decisions are made on a role-by-role basis, so confirm directly with your recruiter whether a specific placement includes H-1B support.
How do I apply for Finance jobs at Robert Half?
You can apply through Robert Half's website or browse verified Finance openings with sponsorship history on Migrate Mate. Robert Half uses specialized Finance and Accounting recruiters, so connecting directly with a recruiter in your target city and function, such as financial analysis or accounting, tends to move faster than submitting a general application. Be upfront about your visa status from the first recruiter conversation.
Which visa types are commonly used for Finance roles at Robert Half?
Robert Half sponsors multiple visa categories for Finance hires, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for current students. For permanent residency, Robert Half has also filed EB-2 and EB-3 PERM-based petitions for Finance professionals in qualifying roles. The right visa depends on your nationality, role type, and how long you intend to stay in the U.S.
What qualifications does Robert Half expect for sponsored Finance roles?
Most sponsored Finance roles at Robert Half require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, which also supports the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B and E-3 eligibility. CPA licensure or active candidacy is frequently listed for accounting-heavy roles. For analyst and advisory positions, a finance degree paired with relevant internship or post-graduation experience is the typical baseline. Credentials from outside the U.S. should be formally evaluated for equivalency.
How do I estimate the timeline from offer to work authorization at Robert Half?
Timeline depends on your visa category. TN and E-3 can be processed at a U.S. consulate in as little as a few weeks after the offer. H-1B standard processing through USCIS takes several months, though premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to around 15 business days. F-1 OPT authorization should already be in place before the placement begins. Start the conversation with your recruiter about visa timing immediately after the offer to avoid delays.
