Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Registered Nurse Jobs at Rush University Medical Center Jobs
Verify your NCLEX and state licensure first
Rush requires active Illinois RN licensure before sponsorship can proceed. If you're internationally educated, begin the NCLEX-RN application and credentials evaluation through CGFNS early, since delays here stall the entire visa timeline downstream.
Target Rush's high-volume specialty units
Rush consistently posts Registered Nurse openings in oncology, cardiovascular, and neurosciences. Applying to units with recurring vacancies improves your odds of finding a hiring manager who has sponsored international nurses before and understands the process.
Understand how H-1B cap timing affects your start date
Rush sponsors H-1B visas, but the April lottery and October 1 start date are fixed by USCIS. If you receive an offer outside that window, ask your recruiter about cap-exempt or bridging options that could keep your work authorization intact.
Ask about EB-3 sponsorship during your offer negotiation
Academic medical centers like Rush often sponsor Green Cards via the EB-3 pathway for nurses. Raise this during the offer stage, not after signing, so PERM labor certification timelines and employer commitments are documented before you start.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Registered Nurse openings at Rush
Searching broadly wastes time when sponsorship eligibility varies by role and department. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Rush University Medical Center RN roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed, so you're only applying where it's viable.
Confirm TN or J-1 eligibility before your interview
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN status applies to Registered Nurses and processes faster than H-1B. J-1 exchange visitor slots are also used at Rush for clinical roles, but check the two-year home residency requirement before accepting.

Find Registered Nurse at Rush University Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Rush University Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Yes, Rush University Medical Center sponsors H-1B visas for Registered Nurses. Because Rush is a large academic medical center rather than a cap-exempt institution, H-1B petitions for new applicants are subject to the annual USCIS lottery. Offers made outside the April registration window will require bridging your authorization through OPT, a prior status, or an alternative visa pathway until an H-1B becomes effective.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at Rush University Medical Center?
Applications are submitted through Rush's careers portal at Rush University Medical Center's official website, where you can filter by nursing role and unit. Before applying, confirm you hold or are in the process of obtaining Illinois RN licensure, as Rush screens for this early. Migrate Mate also surfaces verified Registered Nurse openings at Rush where sponsorship is confirmed, which helps you prioritize roles where your visa situation is already a known fit.
Which visa types does Rush University Medical Center commonly use for Registered Nurses?
Rush sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for nursing roles, along with immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. For internationally educated nurses, EB-3 is frequently used because the occupation is on the Schedule A list, which bypasses the PERM labor certification step and can meaningfully shorten the Green Card timeline compared to most other employment-based categories.
What qualifications does Rush University Medical Center expect for sponsored Registered Nurse roles?
Rush expects candidates to hold a valid Illinois RN license, with most unit-level roles preferring a BSN. NCLEX-RN passage is required regardless of where you trained. For internationally educated nurses, a credentials evaluation through a NACES-approved organization is standard. Specialty units in critical care, oncology, or cardiovascular typically expect relevant clinical experience, and certifications like CCRN or OCN strengthen your application for those positions.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Registered Nurse at Rush?
Timeline depends on the visa type. F-1 OPT can start quickly if your work authorization is already approved. H-1B sponsorship is tied to the USCIS lottery, with an effective date of October 1 following an April registration, meaning you may wait six months or more after an offer. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a longer process, often two or more years, but Schedule A eligibility for nurses removes the labor certification requirement and reduces one significant delay.
