Frame Your Experience Around Revenue Impact
Sysco evaluates Sales candidates on their ability to grow accounts and retain clients in competitive food service markets. Quantify territory growth, upsell rates, or client retention figures from previous roles before applying, so your resume speaks directly to their distribution-driven sales model.
Target Territory-Based Openings Strategically
Sysco's Sales roles are tied to specific geographic territories and operating companies. Roles at larger metropolitan distribution centers tend to have more established HR infrastructure for processing sponsorship paperwork, so prioritize those locations when filtering open positions.
Clarify OPT or TN Status Early in Conversations
If you're on F-1 OPT or a TN visa, surface your authorization status in your first recruiter call rather than waiting for an offer. Sysco's HR teams handle sponsorship regionally, and early clarity prevents miscommunication about your timeline and STEM OPT extension eligibility.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Roles
Sysco posts hundreds of Sales openings across its operating companies, and not all are tied to locations or teams that actively sponsor. Use Migrate Mate to surface verified sponsorship-eligible Sales roles at Sysco so you're applying where your visa status is already accounted for.
Understand How PERM Timelines Affect Sales Offers
If Sysco pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway for you, the PERM labor certification process requires DOL to confirm no qualified U.S. worker was available. That process typically runs six months or longer, so negotiate your start date and employment authorization continuity before signing any offer.
Build Relationships With Sysco's Foodservice Customer Segments
Sysco's Sales team is organized around customer verticals like healthcare, hospitality, and education. Candidates with demonstrable experience selling into any of these sectors, even outside food and beverage, will stand out during hiring and strengthen a sponsoring employer's case when documenting specialty occupation requirements.

Find Sales at Sysco JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Sysco sponsor H-1B visas for Sales roles?
Sysco's primary sponsorship activity for Sales roles falls under employment-based immigrant visa categories like EB-2 and EB-3 rather than the H-1B. H-1B sponsorship for Sales positions is less common because these roles don't always meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which requires a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge tied directly to a specific degree field.
Which visa types does Sysco commonly sponsor for Sales positions?
Sysco has sponsored Sales talent through F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and employment-based immigrant visa categories including EB-2 and EB-3. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. EB-2 and EB-3 pathways involve PERM labor certification through the DOL and are better suited to longer-term employment relationships.
What qualifications does Sysco expect for Sales roles?
Sysco typically looks for candidates with a background in business, marketing, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience managing customer accounts or territory sales. Experience selling into food service, healthcare, or institutional markets is a meaningful differentiator. Familiarity with CRM tools and a track record of meeting revenue targets will strengthen your candidacy across most Sales openings.
How do I apply for Sales jobs at Sysco?
You can apply directly through Sysco's careers portal, but filtering for visa-sponsorship-eligible roles can be difficult without additional tools. Migrate Mate aggregates Sysco's Sales openings and flags which positions are tied to locations and teams with active sponsorship history, saving you time and reducing the risk of applying where sponsorship isn't available.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a Sales role with sponsorship at Sysco?
If you're on F-1 OPT, your 12-month authorization window, or 24-month STEM OPT extension if eligible, sets a hard deadline for when employer-sponsored status must be filed. For immigrant visa pathways like EB-3, expect the PERM process alone to take six months or more before USCIS can adjudicate the underlying petition. Start conversations with Sysco recruiters well before your current authorization expires.
