Frame Your PMP Around Fleet Operations
United Rentals prioritizes program managers who can demonstrate experience coordinating large-scale equipment logistics or vendor networks. Tailor your resume to highlight cross-functional project delivery in asset-heavy or field-service environments before you apply.
Verify Your Role Qualifies as Specialty Occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to demand a specific bachelor's degree field. For program manager positions, tie your degree in engineering, supply chain, or business administration directly to the operational scope United Rentals posts in the job description.
Target Branch and Regional Program Roles
United Rentals fills program manager openings across regional branches, not just corporate. Applying at the branch or district level can shorten hiring timelines and put you in front of managers who have direct authority over headcount and sponsorship decisions.
Clarify Sponsorship Willingness Before Final Rounds
Bring up visa sponsorship after a hiring manager signals interest, not in your first message. Ask specifically whether the role is approved for H-1B filing, since authorization often sits with HR and workforce planning rather than the direct hiring team.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Roles Efficiently
Filter for Program Manager openings at United Rentals that are confirmed for visa sponsorship using Migrate Mate. This saves you from applying to postings that exclude international candidates and surfaces roles aligned with your visa type.
Build Your PERM Timeline Into Salary Negotiations
If United Rentals moves toward an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the DOL PERM process requires the offered wage to meet or exceed the prevailing wage for the role and location. Request the job's wage category from HR early so there are no surprises at the offer stage.

Does United Rentals sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, United Rentals sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. The company has a history of supporting visa sponsorship across its operations and project management functions. Your offered role will need to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means the position must require a specific bachelor's degree field directly related to the job duties.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at United Rentals?
You can browse open Program Manager positions at United Rentals through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles confirmed to offer visa sponsorship. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply directly through United Rentals' careers portal. Tailor your application to the operational scope of the role, specifically around equipment, logistics, or large-scale service delivery if that matches your background.
Which visa types does United Rentals sponsor for Program Manager positions?
United Rentals sponsors a range of visa types for this function, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange program participants, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories. The right pathway depends on your nationality, education, and how far along you are in your career.
What qualifications does United Rentals expect for Program Manager roles?
United Rentals typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, supply chain, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects or programs in an operations-heavy environment. Familiarity with equipment rental, field service coordination, or vendor management strengthens your candidacy. A PMP certification is valued but not always required depending on the specific role level.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Program Manager at United Rentals?
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS standard processing runs several months from petition filing, though premium processing can reduce the adjudication window to around 15 business days. If United Rentals pursues a PERM-based Green Card for you, the DOL labor certification stage alone can take one to two years before the I-140 petition is filed. Starting these conversations early in the offer process gives you the clearest picture of your timeline.
