Credential Your Clinical Training for U.S. Standards
If your medical assistant certification came from outside the U.S., verify it aligns with CMA or RMA standards recognized by USCIS and U.S. employers. University of Colorado's clinical teams expect hands-on competency documentation, not just a degree transcript.
Target University Health Campuses Directly
University of Colorado posts Clinical Medical Assistant openings across distinct campuses and departments. Filter by location and clinical unit when applying, since hiring decisions often sit with department managers, not central HR, and timelines vary by team.
Understand Which Visa Fits Your Situation
University of Colorado sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, and OPT for Clinical Medical Assistant roles. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your role qualifies under your field of study before your first day, since STEM extension eligibility doesn't apply to most clinical assistant positions.
Ask HR About LCA Filing During Interviews
Before accepting an offer, confirm University of Colorado's HR team has filed a Labor Condition Application with the DOL for your specific role and work site. A missing or mismatched LCA is one of the most common delays in H-1B processing for clinical roles.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Roles Efficiently
Clinical Medical Assistant openings at University of Colorado are posted across multiple portals and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter for University of Colorado roles that actively support visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.

Find Clinical Medical Assistant at University of Colorado JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does University of Colorado sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Medical Assistants?
Yes, University of Colorado sponsors H-1B visas for Clinical Medical Assistant positions. As a large academic institution, it has an established immigration support process through its HR and legal teams. H-1B sponsorship is cap-subject, so your start date must align with the October 1 fiscal year. Confirm sponsorship intent with the hiring department before or during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Clinical Medical Assistant jobs at University of Colorado?
Applications go through the University of Colorado's official jobs portal, CU Careers. Each posting lists the specific campus, department, and required certifications. Read the position details carefully, since some clinical roles require active CMA or phlebotomy credentials. You can also browse Clinical Medical Assistant openings at University of Colorado that explicitly support visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate before applying directly.
Which visa types does University of Colorado commonly use for Clinical Medical Assistant roles?
University of Colorado sponsors H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), J-1, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for qualifying Clinical Medical Assistant roles. TN is often faster for eligible candidates since it bypasses the H-1B lottery. J-1 is common for candidates in exchange visitor programs affiliated with academic health centers.
What qualifications does University of Colorado expect for Clinical Medical Assistant candidates?
Most postings require a certified medical assistant credential such as CMA (AAMA) or RMA, along with hands-on clinical experience in areas like vitals, phlebotomy, and EHR documentation. University of Colorado's academic health settings often expect familiarity with Epic or similar systems. International candidates should verify that foreign medical training or certifications are recognized under U.S. credentialing standards before applying.
How do I handle the H-1B timeline when targeting a Clinical Medical Assistant role at University of Colorado?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, you need to be onboarded at University of Colorado no later than early March to allow time for petition preparation. USCIS premium processing can reduce approval wait times significantly, and some university employers elect it for clinical hires to reduce uncertainty.
