Frame your credentials around U.S. insurance standards
USI assesses Business Development Executives on their ability to manage producer relationships and close commercial accounts. If your experience is from a non-U.S. market, translate your book of business metrics and licensing background into terms that align with U.S. commercial lines or employee benefits sales.
Target USI's regional office hiring patterns
USI staffs Business Development Executives through regional branch offices rather than a central hiring desk. Search by metro area, not just the company name. Roles in growth markets like Texas, Florida, and the Southeast tend to post more frequently and carry stronger sponsorship flexibility.
Clarify your visa type early in recruiter conversations
USI has sponsored E-3, TN, and OPT candidates for this role. Tell the recruiter your specific visa category upfront so they can route you to the right internal HR process. Each category has a different filing timeline, and waiting until the offer stage creates avoidable delays.
Align your offer timing with LCA certification lead time
For E-3 and H-1B candidates, USI's legal team must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your visa appointment or petition can proceed. Build at least three to four weeks of LCA processing time into your expected start date when negotiating with the hiring manager.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Business Development Executive roles
USI posts Business Development Executive openings across dozens of locations simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter these roles by visa sponsorship type so you focus only on postings that match your work authorization, saving time on applications that won't advance.
Obtain your state insurance producer license before your start date
Most U.S. states require a property and casualty or life and health producer license to solicit insurance business. USI expects Business Development Executives to be licensed or actively pursuing licensure. Starting the exam process before your visa is approved shows readiness and removes a common onboarding bottleneck.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does USI Insurance Services sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Executives?
USI Insurance Services does not appear in recent H-1B visa sponsorship records for Business Development Executive roles. The visa types USI has sponsored for this function include E-3 visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visa. If you hold one of those statuses, your candidacy is on stronger footing than if you require H-1B visa cap sponsorship.
Which visa types does USI Insurance Services commonly sponsor for Business Development Executives?
USI has sponsored Business Development Executives on E-3, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. Australian citizens are well positioned given E-3 eligibility and the visa's straightforward employer filing requirements. Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying categories can pursue TN status, which USI can support without a lengthy petition process.
What qualifications does USI Insurance Services expect from Business Development Executive candidates?
USI typically looks for candidates with a background in consultative B2B sales, ideally within insurance, financial services, or a closely adjacent industry. A bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field is standard. Existing relationships with commercial accounts or benefits brokers, along with state insurance producer licensing or the intent to obtain it, strengthen your application significantly.
How do I apply for Business Development Executive jobs at USI Insurance Services?
Start by searching Migrate Mate to find USI Business Development Executive postings filtered by visa sponsorship type. Apply directly through USI's careers portal and note your work authorization status in your application. Reach out to the regional recruiter handling the role if contact information is available, as direct outreach accelerates screening timelines at a company that hires at scale.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a Business Development Executive role at USI Insurance Services on a work visa?
Timeline depends on your visa category. OPT candidates should confirm their EAD card is valid and have STEM extension eligibility assessed before accepting an offer. TN and E-3 candidates should expect a DOL Labor Condition Application window of three to four weeks before their visa is issued. Build these timelines into your negotiation with USI so your start date is realistic and compliant.
