Finance Assistant Jobs in Connecticut: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance assistant in Connecticut?
The most direct path is completing an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from a Connecticut institution such as the University of Connecticut, Quinnipiac University, or a Connecticut Community College campus. Finance assistants in Connecticut are not required to hold a state-issued license, but employers consistently favor candidates who have completed coursework in financial accounting, and many pursue the Certified Bookkeeper credential through the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers to strengthen their candidacy.
Which companies hire finance assistants in Connecticut?
Employers hiring finance assistants in Connecticut right now include GOODWIN COLLEGE, CTTRANSIT, and Pratt & Whitney, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Connecticut's concentration of insurance carriers, regional banks, and corporate headquarters means steady openings across both large enterprise finance teams and smaller specialized firms.
Which Connecticut cities have the most finance assistant jobs?
East Hartford, Hamden, and Hartford have the most finance assistant openings in Connecticut. Hartford anchors the market as the insurance capital of the country, home to major carriers and their large finance departments, while Stamford draws demand from financial services firms and corporate headquarters concentrated along the I-95 corridor, and Bridgeport adds volume through its mix of healthcare systems and regional financial institutions.
Are there remote finance assistant jobs in Connecticut?
Yes, and more than most fields, since finance assistant work centers on data entry, reporting, and software-based reconciliation that translates well to remote setups. About 100% of finance assistant openings tied to Connecticut are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the role. Tasks like accounts payable processing and financial reporting are the most likely to appear in fully remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a finance assistant in Connecticut with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying to accounting clerk or administrative coordinator roles at Connecticut community banks, insurance carriers, or healthcare systems, which routinely hire candidates without direct finance assistant experience and develop them internally. Employers like Hartford HealthCare and regional credit unions run structured new-hire programs that bring on candidates from adjacent roles. Completing an accounting certificate through the Connecticut Community College system and demonstrating proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks gives candidates a measurable edge over other applicants without a work history in finance.
Where can I find and apply to finance assistant jobs in Connecticut?
You can find and apply to finance assistant jobs in Connecticut on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Hartford, Stamford, Bridgeport, and the rest of the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit.
