Finance Manager Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance manager in Maryland?
Most finance manager roles in Maryland require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration, and employers in government contracting and healthcare often expect a CPA or CFA credential. Maryland does not require a state-issued license specific to the finance manager title, but CPA licensure through the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy strengthens candidacy significantly. Several years in financial analyst or accounting roles typically precede a move into management.
Which companies hire finance managers in Maryland?
Companies currently hiring finance managers in Maryland include DARCARS Automotive, Ourisman Automotive, and RSM, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Maryland's blend of federal contractors, regional hospital systems, and asset management firms means demand stays broad across industries throughout the year.
Which Maryland cities have the most finance manager jobs?
Baltimore, Bethesda, and Towson hold the most finance manager openings in Maryland. Baltimore anchors demand through its large hospital networks and financial institutions, Bethesda draws from federal agencies and defense contractors concentrated along the I-270 corridor, and Annapolis reflects state government and insurance-sector hiring that keeps suburban and mid-state markets consistently active.
Are there remote finance manager jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, because financial planning and analysis work is largely desk-based and data-driven. About 56% of finance manager openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in corporate finance functions. FP&A, treasury analysis, and management reporting positions are the sub-areas most likely to be posted as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a finance manager in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a financial analyst or staff accountant role, which large Maryland employers such as Leidos, CareFirst, and T. Rowe Price use as the primary pipeline for developing future managers. Pursuing a CPA through the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy while in an analyst role accelerates promotion. Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland Medical System also run rotational finance programs that place early-career candidates across departments, building the cross-functional exposure hiring managers look for.
Where can I find and apply to finance manager jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to finance manager jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and target area, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
