Financial Officer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial officer in Florida?
Most financial officer roles in Florida require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, followed by several years of progressively responsible finance experience. Many employers expect or prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing a CPA license through the Florida Board of Accountancy, or a CFA credential. Senior roles such as controller or CFO typically require an MBA or equivalent advanced degree alongside demonstrated leadership in financial reporting and strategic planning.
Which companies hire financial officers in Florida?
Employers hiring financial officers in Florida right now include Keiser University, Supplied Talent, and Tenet Healthcare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's mix of large healthcare systems, financial services firms, and real estate developers means demand for financial officers is spread across several distinct industry clusters rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which Florida cities have the most financial officer jobs?
Miami, Clearwater, and Tallahassee have the most financial officer openings in Florida, driven by the concentration of corporate headquarters, major hospital systems, and financial services firms that require dedicated finance leadership in each of those metros.
Are there remote financial officer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than some finance roles allow, since much of a financial officer's work involves analysis, reporting, and system-based tasks that transfer well to remote settings. About 19% of financial officer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote roles most common in financial planning and analysis and treasury functions rather than roles requiring close coordination with operations or auditors on-site.
How can I get hired as a financial officer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a staff accountant, financial analyst, or accounts payable coordinator role, which large Florida employers like AdventHealth, Lennar, and Citigroup regularly fill at the associate level. From there, lateral movement into a financial officer track becomes feasible after a few years of demonstrated reporting and budgeting responsibility. Earning or actively pursuing a CPA through the Florida Board of Accountancy significantly strengthens a candidate's profile for promotion into officer-level positions.
Where can I find and apply to financial officer jobs in Florida?
