Healthcare Project Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare project manager in Texas?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a clinical field, then pursuing the Project Management Professional credential through the Project Management Institute. Texas does not require a state-issued license specific to healthcare project management, but many employers expect the PMP or a Lean Six Sigma certification. Candidates with clinical backgrounds, such as registered nurses or health information technicians, often transition into project roles by leading department-level initiatives first.
How much do healthcare project managers make in Texas?
Healthcare project managers in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire healthcare project managers in Texas?
Employers hiring healthcare project managers in Texas right now include Medpace, Houston Methodist, and Baylor Scott & White Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas-based integrated delivery networks, large physician groups, and managed care organizations drive consistent demand across both metropolitan and suburban markets.
Which Texas cities have the most healthcare project manager jobs?
Irving, Dallas, and Houston have the most healthcare project manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, while Dallas and Fort Worth draw demand from major health system headquarters, insurance carriers, and health IT vendors concentrated across the Metroplex.
Are there remote healthcare project manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles, since project management work is largely desk-based and coordination-driven rather than hands-on clinical. About 6% of healthcare project manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting a genuine shift since major health systems adopted distributed project teams. EHR optimization, vendor management, and strategic planning projects are the functions most often structured as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a healthcare project manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from an adjacent healthcare role such as clinical coordinator, medical office manager, or health information specialist into a junior project analyst or project coordinator position. Large Texas health systems, including Baylor Scott & White and UT Southwestern Medical Center, periodically post coordinator-level openings designed for candidates building their first project portfolio. Earning the Certified Associate in Project Management credential before applying signals readiness without requiring years of formal project management experience.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare project manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to healthcare project manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the employers posting them.
