Human Resources Assistant Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources assistant in Utah?
Most Utah employers require at minimum an associate degree in human resources or business, though a bachelor's degree improves competitiveness significantly. Utah has no state-issued license for HR assistants, so the clearest credentialing path is earning the aPHR (Associate Professional in Human Resources) from HRCI, which is designed for entry-level candidates with no prior HR experience. Many Salt Lake City and Provo employers list the aPHR as a preferred qualification for assistant-level roles.
Which companies hire human resources assistants in Utah?
Employers hiring human resources assistants in Utah right now include University of Utah, Victra-Verizon Authorized Retailer, and Arvato, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Utah's concentration of large tech firms, healthcare systems, and financial services companies means HR assistant demand remains broad and relatively stable throughout the year.
Which Utah cities have the most human resources assistant jobs?
Salt Lake City, Lehi, and Ogden lead Utah for human resources assistant openings. Salt Lake City drives the largest share thanks to its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, hospital systems, and financial services firms, while Provo and Ogden benefit from substantial tech company campuses and regional healthcare employers that maintain dedicated HR teams.
Are there remote human resources assistant jobs in Utah?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical roles because HR assistants frequently handle in-person onboarding, document verification, and employee walk-ins. About 54% of human resources assistant openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and the tasks most often performed remotely are HRIS data entry, benefits correspondence, and scheduling coordination.
How can I get hired as a human resources assistant in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for HR coordinator or administrative assistant roles at large Utah employers like Intermountain Health or the University of Utah, both of which run structured onboarding pipelines that bring in candidates with general office experience. Earning the aPHR credential before applying signals commitment and compensates for thin direct experience. Lateral moves from payroll clerk, office coordinator, or customer service roles are common, as Utah HR teams frequently promote from within once foundational admin skills are demonstrated.
Where can I find and apply to human resources assistant jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to human resources assistant jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer through each listing.
