Marketing communications manager is not a licensed profession in Washington, so there is no state board or exam required. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations, followed by several years in communications, content, or PR roles. Building a portfolio of campaigns and earning certifications from recognized industry bodies such as the Public Relations Society of America strengthens candidacy considerably in Washington's competitive tech and healthcare markets.
How much do marketing communications managers make in Washington?
Marketing communications managers in Washington earn a median of about $172,270 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $98,220 for the lowest 10% to over $293,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing communications managers in Washington?
Employers hiring marketing communications managers in Washington right now include DPR Construction, Olson Kundig, and magniX USA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of global technology headquarters, major aerospace firms, and large integrated health systems means demand stays consistent throughout the year rather than spiking seasonally.
Which Washington cities have the most marketing communications manager jobs?
Seattle, Bellingham, and Everett have the most marketing communications manager openings in Washington. Seattle drives the bulk of listings because of its dense cluster of technology headquarters, healthcare networks, and professional services firms, while Bellevue and Redmond reflect the large corporate campuses of major software and cloud companies that maintain dedicated communications teams.
Are there remote marketing communications manager jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. Marketing communications work is largely desk-based and document-driven, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 67% of marketing communications manager openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting widespread adoption among technology and professional services employers in particular. Strategy, content development, and campaign management are the sub-functions most commonly offered as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a marketing communications manager in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a coordinator or specialist role in content, social media, public relations, or internal communications, then moving into management after building a documented campaign portfolio. Large Washington employers in technology and healthcare regularly hire communications coordinators and associate specialists as feeder roles. Completing an industry certification and targeting associate communications or marketing specialist postings at Washington-based technology companies or health systems puts candidates in the pipeline for manager-level promotions within a few years.
