Outside Sales Representative Jobs in Maryland
Outside Sales Representative jobs in Maryland are concentrated in the Baltimore metro, the Washington D.C. suburbs of Montgomery and Prince George's counties, and the Annapolis corridor, where demand runs from entry-level account executives to senior territory managers. Medical device, cybersecurity, and government-contracting-adjacent technology sales are among the most in-demand specialties, with established employers such as Medline Industries, Leidos, and T. Rowe Price maintaining consistent outside sales hiring in the state. Maryland's proximity to federal agencies and major hospital systems gives the market a distinct B2B and healthcare sales lean that sets it apart from purely commercial markets. Outside Sales Representative Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a outside sales representative in Maryland?
Most outside sales representative roles in Maryland do not require a state-issued license, but entry typically means a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field paired with demonstrated sales aptitude. Candidates pursuing medical device or pharmaceutical sales often add certifications from recognized industry bodies. Building familiarity with Maryland's dominant sectors, particularly healthcare systems, cybersecurity firms, and government contractors, gives applicants a concrete advantage over generalist candidates.
How much do outside sales representatives make in Maryland?
Outside sales representatives in Maryland earn a median of about $73,080 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $44,170 for the lowest 10% to over $135,160 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire outside sales representatives in Maryland?
Employers hiring outside sales representatives in Maryland right now include Hibu, UniFirst, and Sunbelt Rentals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Maryland's concentration of hospital networks, defense contractors, and technology firms means hiring tends to skew toward B2B, healthcare, and federal-market sales specialties.
Which Maryland cities have the most outside sales representative jobs?
Baltimore, Maryland, and Landover lead Maryland for outside sales representative openings. Baltimore anchors the list through its large hospital systems and corporate headquarters, while the Montgomery County and Rockville corridor draws substantial volume from biotech companies and federal-adjacent technology firms that rely on outside sales teams to serve government and enterprise clients.
Are there remote outside sales representative jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. Outside sales is by definition field-based, so most roles require regular in-person client visits across a defined Maryland territory. About 39% of outside sales representative openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to be in account management or inside-leaning hybrid roles rather than traditional territory-driven outside sales.
How can I get hired as a outside sales representative in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from an inside sales, customer success, or retail sales role at a Maryland employer that promotes from within. Large healthcare distributors and technology firms in the Baltimore and Rockville areas regularly hire sales development representatives and promote them into outside roles after demonstrated performance. Earning an entry-level CRM certification and building familiarity with Maryland's healthcare or government contracting sectors significantly strengthens an otherwise thin resume.
Where can I find and apply to outside sales representative jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to outside sales representative jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings updated regularly. Search by city or specialty to narrow the results to roles that fit your background, then apply directly to the positions that match your experience level and target industry.
