Position Summary
The Restaurant Assistant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of The Statehouse restaurant, Augie’s Tavern, and In-Room Dining services. This role ensures the highest level of guest satisfaction through effective supervision, training, and development of Front of House staff. The Assistant Manager contributes to financial success by monitoring budgets, labor costs, and inventory controls, while upholding The Edgewater’s standards of excellence in hospitality and service.
Essential Job Functions
- Supervise and support Front of House team during service.
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of staff.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to review service standards, specials, and reservations.
- Maintain a professional and motivating work environment.
- Ensure prompt, courteous, and professional service that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
- Resolve guest concerns and complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
- Oversee service flow, timing, and quality to guarantee smooth dining experiences.
- Recognize and engage repeat guests to strengthen loyalty.
- Create and manage staff schedules in line with forecasted business needs.
- Oversee payroll reporting and tip distribution in coordination with management.
- Monitor and critique food quality and consistency.
- Maintain restaurant cleanliness, physical atmosphere, and equipment functionality.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and responsible beverage service standards.
- Assist with managing departmental budgets, expenses, and labor costs.
- Monitor inventory and supply levels; coordinate replenishment as needed.
- Support menu and beverage program development with leadership team.
- Conduct end-of-shift duties to ensure side-work and closing tasks are complete.
- Attend management and department meetings as required.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, restaurant management, or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience in restaurants or hotels.
- Food Manager Certification and Responsible Beverage Service Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented approach.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to interpret and manage budgets, scheduling, and labor productivity.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
