Restaurant General Manager Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a restaurant general manager in Kansas?
Most restaurant general managers in Kansas advance through hourly and shift supervisor roles before moving into assistant manager and then general manager positions. Kansas does not require a state-issued license specifically for restaurant general managers, but employers consistently expect a current ServSafe Manager certification, which is administered through the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. A degree in hospitality management or business strengthens a candidacy, though proven operational results carry the most weight with Kansas hiring managers.
Which companies hire restaurant general managers in Kansas?
Employers hiring restaurant general managers in Kansas right now include Wendy's, Taco Bell, and Applebee's, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's mix of corporate-owned chains, regional franchisees, and hotel food service operations means openings appear across multiple employer types throughout the year.
Which Kansas cities have the most restaurant general manager jobs?
Wichita, Kansas City, and Overland Park account for the largest share of restaurant general manager openings in Kansas. Wichita's size as the state's largest city and its concentration of hotel properties, convention dining, and national chain locations drives the most volume, while Overland Park and Kansas City benefit from dense suburban retail corridors and corporate headquarters that support high-traffic full-service restaurants.
Are there remote restaurant general manager jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of restaurant general manager openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fundamentally on-site nature of the role. The small fraction of remote work that does appear tends to involve multi-unit consulting, vendor relations, or training development responsibilities that can be handled off-site, rather than day-to-day floor management.
How can I get hired as a restaurant general manager in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an assistant general manager or kitchen manager role at a full-service or fast-casual operation in Wichita or the Kansas City metro, where turnover creates consistent openings. Large Kansas franchisee groups often promote from shift lead and assistant manager ranks internally, so starting in a high-volume location and completing internal leadership development programs is a common route. Earning a ServSafe Manager certification before applying signals readiness to hiring managers and compensates for limited title history.
Where can I find and apply to restaurant general manager jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to restaurant general manager jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your background, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
