Sales Business Development Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales business development in South Carolina?
Most sales business development roles in South Carolina do not require a state-issued license, but candidates typically enter through a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field combined with experience in inside sales or account management. South Carolina's largest hiring industries, including automotive manufacturing, logistics, and financial services, often prefer candidates who can demonstrate territory management or B2B pipeline experience, and professional certifications such as the Certified Professional Sales Person designation can strengthen a candidacy considerably.
How much do sales business developments make in South Carolina?
Sales business developments in South Carolina earn a median of about $64,250 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,250 for the lowest 10% to over $142,370 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales business developments in South Carolina?
South Carolina sales business development roles are posted by Sodexo, SelectQuote, and First Onsite and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. South Carolina's strong manufacturing corridor and growing technology and distribution sectors mean that both large multinationals and regional firms maintain active sales development hiring throughout the year.
Which South Carolina cities have the most sales business development jobs?
South Carolina, Conway, and Rock Hill lead South Carolina for sales business development openings. Columbia anchors state government and financial services activity, Greenville serves as the commercial hub for the Upstate's automotive and advanced manufacturing corridor anchored by BMW and Michelin, and Charleston draws business development roles tied to its expanding port operations, tourism economy, and growing technology sector.
Are there remote sales business development jobs in South Carolina?
Yes, and more than many fields, since business development work is heavily relationship- and communication-driven and does not require a fixed physical location. About 67% of sales business development openings tied to South Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the broad adoption of distributed sales teams across industries. Strategic account management, inside sales, and partnership development roles tend to carry the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a sales business development in South Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in an inside sales or sales development representative role, which South Carolina employers in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston regularly recruit for without requiring prior field sales experience. Large regional employers and staffing firms operating in the Upstate manufacturing corridor often run rotational or associate sales programs designed for recent graduates. Building familiarity with a CRM platform and pursuing a Certified Professional Sales Person credential can differentiate a candidate who lacks a long resume.
Where can I find and apply to sales business development jobs in South Carolina?
You can find and apply to sales business development jobs in South Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state's major markets including Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston. Search the listings to identify roles that match your experience level and industry focus, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
