Sales Development Manager Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales development manager in Maryland?
The most direct path is several years as a high-performing individual sales development representative, followed by a team-lead role before stepping into a full management position. Maryland does not require a state-issued license or certification for this role. Most hiring managers in the Baltimore and Bethesda markets prioritize a bachelor's degree in business or marketing combined with a measurable history of pipeline contribution and experience mentoring junior reps.
How much do sales development managers make in Maryland?
Sales development managers in Maryland earn a median of about $137,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,270 for the lowest 10% to over $257,350 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales development managers in Maryland?
Maryland sales development manager roles are posted by ZoomInfo, United Rentals, and FedEx and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Maryland's dense concentration of defense contractors, cybersecurity firms, and financial services companies means demand stays active across a range of company sizes throughout the year.
Which Maryland cities have the most sales development manager jobs?
Baltimore, Bethesda, and Elkton account for the largest share of sales development manager openings in Maryland. Baltimore anchors demand through its healthcare systems and financial institutions, while Bethesda and the broader Montgomery County corridor attract postings from federal contractors and enterprise technology companies headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Are there remote sales development manager jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and they are fairly common for this role since sales development management is largely a desk-based, communications-driven function. About 50% of sales development manager openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a broader industry shift in how technology and SaaS employers structure these teams. Strategy, coaching calls, and pipeline reviews are the parts of the role most frequently performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a sales development manager in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an individual contributor SDR or inside sales role first, ideally at one of Maryland's larger technology or government contracting employers, and then building toward a team-lead title internally. Companies like Leidos and SAIC run structured associate sales programs that move strong performers into leadership tracks. Completing a recognized sales methodology certification and demonstrating measurable quota attainment as a rep gives candidates without a management title a clear edge in Maryland interviews.
Where can I find and apply to sales development manager jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to sales development manager jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
