Sales Manager Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales manager in North Dakota?
Most sales manager roles in North Dakota require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with several years of direct sales experience. The state does not require a specific license for general sales management, but roles in financial services may require FINRA licensure such as the Series 65 or Series 7. Employers in Fargo and Bismarck typically promote from within, so building a record in territory or account sales is the most direct path.
How much do sales managers make in North Dakota?
Sales managers in North Dakota earn a median of about $119,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,610 for the lowest 10% to over $197,290 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales managers in North Dakota?
North Dakota sales manager roles are posted by AutoZone, Anytime Fitness, and Brady Martz and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. North Dakota's energy, agriculture, and financial services sectors mean that employers in those industries generate the steadiest volume of openings.
Which North Dakota cities have the most sales manager jobs?
Fargo, Minot, and Bismarck lead North Dakota for sales manager openings. Fargo anchors the market as the state's largest commercial center, with a dense concentration of healthcare, financial, and technology employers driving consistent demand, while Bismarck benefits from state government contractors, energy companies, and regional banks headquartered there.
Are there remote sales manager jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely desk-based fields. About 52% of sales manager openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's frequent need for in-person client and team contact. Strategic, operations-focused, or inside-sales manager positions are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a sales manager in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a sales manager role from an account executive or senior sales representative position within the same North Dakota company. Employers like Sanford Health, Gate City Bank, and regional agricultural equipment dealers frequently develop internal candidates through lead or team-lead roles before promoting to management. Earning a FINRA license or completing a business leadership certificate through North Dakota State University or the University of North Dakota strengthens a candidate's profile significantly.
Where can I find and apply to sales manager jobs in North Dakota?
You can find and apply to sales manager jobs in North Dakota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each one.
