Sales Representative Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales representative in Michigan?
Most sales representative roles in Michigan require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though many employers in automotive and industrial sectors hire candidates with an associate degree plus relevant experience. Michigan does not require a general state license for sales representatives, but those selling insurance, real estate, or securities must hold the appropriate Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services or FINRA license. Building product knowledge and gaining experience in a customer-facing role is the most common starting point.
Which companies hire sales representatives in Michigan?
Employers hiring sales representatives in Michigan right now include Alliance Mobile, All-Weather Seal, and Orkin, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's deep concentration of automotive, healthcare, and manufacturing companies means steady demand across both regional firms and national organizations with major Michigan operations.
Which Michigan cities have the most sales representative jobs?
Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Troy have the most sales representative openings in Michigan. Detroit leads due to its density of automotive, manufacturing, and corporate headquarters, while Grand Rapids drives strong demand through its healthcare, office furniture, and consumer goods industries, and Lansing contributes openings tied to state government contractors, insurance carriers, and mid-size manufacturers in the capital region.
Are there remote sales representative jobs in Michigan?
Yes, though they are more selective than fully office-based roles. About 28% of sales representative openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a market where client relationships and territory coverage still favor in-person work. Remote and hybrid arrangements are most common in software, SaaS, and technology sales, where client meetings happen virtually and there is no physical product to demonstrate on site.
How can I get hired as a sales representative in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a sales development representative or inside sales associate, roles that large Michigan employers in healthcare technology and manufacturing regularly post for candidates without prior sales experience. Companies like Stryker run structured early-career programs specifically designed for new graduates, and automotive suppliers frequently hire from adjacent customer service and retail roles. Earning a relevant certification such as HubSpot Sales Software or Salesforce Administrator strengthens an application when direct sales experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to sales representative jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to sales representative jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings across industries including automotive, healthcare, technology, and manufacturing. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to each employer without creating an account or going through a third party.
